That is the only guy they want and that’s their best offer. Take it or leave it.
If Alt is there, I stick at 9 and take him.
If not, yeah I'll take your deal b/c it includes a 2nd round pick. The #144 pick is pretty useless in this draft given its thin nature.
While it does sound like this is a thin draft as far as depth, I'd be willing to bet the Bears do have players in this draft that will be available at #144 who are quality players. For that matter, I'll bet they have some key UDFA's who are decent quality too (guys who can help this team like Jack Sanborn and Tyson Bagen have... both UDFA's). I get what you are saying regarding the thin draft. But the #144 pick may very well bring in a decent player.

Whatever the scouting department thinks is the BPA is who they should be drafting, regardless of need. You only trade down when you think you can still get the same kind of talent farther back.

The #144 pick will be a guy that would be UDFA most drafts. That's what I'm saying.

meh.... IMO, that is player dependent. Just like there are pro bowlers in UDFA, they are there in the later rounds. The ability to see talent and luck are the factors there. You may be talking about what people that think they have a say on the internet think. Doesn't matter what they think. You can get a hit.... or a miss for that matter in any round
