I don’t think Alt will be there at #9, we don’t need a LT, and you can trade down for a couple tackles nearly as good as him anyway. I am in the support Williams camp, so no DL. Finally, you underrate JPJ, and C/G is position of need.
I agree on this as well. I'm active on a couple of other sites and a grabbed the image that one of the other folks posted on their latest PFF mock draft effort.
This assumes that Alt and all of the top 3 WRs are gone at the time our #9 pick comes up. IMO this would be a pretty decent alternative.
There are many mocks where JPJ goes to Steelers at #20 or Cowboys at #25. So I would try to trade down to 16-19. A lot of this depends on how high the Vikings trade up to draft McCarthy. If it is #6, we can probably get Odunze. But if it is #11, there is a good chance only 3 QBs go before #9, and 3WRs, Alt, and Turner are all gone. That’s the scenario where Bears trade down for JPJ and I am a happy camper, if I can’t get Odunze.

And the engines behind the draft simulation software behind a given mock don't have anything to do with the reality that we will see play out starting April 25.

I pay no attention to most of that. But if you look at enough mocks from the major sports networks, you do get an approximation of the landscape. Since GMs lie to each other, they will get surprises like the rest of us.

Damn cause my mocks I run keep giving the Bears Odunze.
I heard Penix ran at his Pro Day, was it today? And ran like a WR. He is the best pocket passer in the draft. Showing he can move if needed may push his stock up the draft board. His age & early injuries have kept him down the board.

Assuming that Penix is healthy for the next couple of years, I think he will be looked back on as one of the true sleepers in this draft. I feel the same about Nix.

More I read, more I am convinced that Odunze should be the #1 target at 9 by far.
The Edges in this class just don't seem like "the total package". All have notable weaknesses--in Latu's case, a serious medical concern.
So my plan right now would be:
Plan A - Odunze Plan B - Alt Plan C - trade down
If you really want a defensive player, feels like you can get Verse, Latu, or Murphy in the mid-1st. Or even a different WR.
Odunze and Alt feel like the two true "Top-10 Talents" I can't pass on at #9. Everyone else, I can see a trade down coming.
Brax is already very good and getting better. I don’t want Alt. JPJ would make the OL stronger than adding Alt, and if Odunze is gone before #9, I am trading down to 16-19 to get JPJ (or Thomas if JPJ is gone).
If you want to replace Brax, you can trade down and get Fautanu who is nearly as good as Alt. Seahawks fans really like him at #16. Equal or better than Alt in all combine stats.

Its a deep draft at OT but everything I'm seeing says Alt >> Everyone Else
If he's there, hard to pass on a rookie LT like him. His ceiling is way higher than Brax's whom you could keep as a swing or trade for a pick.
I also gag on the idea of drafting a non-premium position in the top-20.
