My position hasn’t changed. I am taking Odunze if available. If not, try to trade down for Powers-Johnson. If he’s not “blue”, he’s close to it in my book.
With you on Odunze, but I'm not drafting a non-premium position in the 1st with other blue-chippers on the board.

I don’t think Alt will be there at #9, we don’t need a LT, and you can trade down for a couple tackles nearly as good as him anyway. I am in the support Williams camp, so no DL. Finally, you underrate JPJ, and C/G is position of need.
Odunze/Alt or trade down if they're not there. I do believe we need blue chip players and I see Allen as a two year WR at best here.
If a player like Nabers randomly fell at #7. I would be ok with us giving away the panthers 2nd round pick to try to move up and grab him. I know that will never happen but the draft is a strange place.

+1 True words there for sure, the draft IS a strange place... the draft takes some crazy twists and turns. That's one reason why it is exciting to watch it go down each year. This year's draft is (hopefully) going to be quality over quantity. Last year was quantity, just trying to fill holes (we went into the season with 30 new players overall, between FA and the draft). This is the year to land a few GREAT players. Montez Sweat is our 2nd rounder (in trade) this year and Keenan Allen is our 4th round pick trade. I am hoping the Bears take care of business with those 2 first round picks, and really with the 3rd and 4th too.

A) If 4 QBs go early, either Alt, Odunze, or Turner will be there at 9. I agree Alt probably goes no later than 7, but its plausible he doesn't depending on who trades up for a QB and when.
B) Alt >> Brax. LT isn't a "need" I agree but its a premium position that would be upgraded by Alt on a cheap contract for 4 years. If he's there at 9 and he's your BPA, yeah you take him. Bookend young stud tackles is definitely "supporting Williams".
C) If the board falls such that Bears have the #1 defensive player available to them at 9, I think you take him. I'm all for going all-in to support the O but if Alt and 3 WRs are gone, I understand pivoting to defense. The kicker in this is what their medical evaluation of Latu is. Teams have the full reports and we do not. If Bears are ok with his health, he's a stud edge we need.
D) Seems like JPJ is gonna be a late-1st rounder so probably not on their radar unless Poles makes a big trade-down (with who?). There's other C/Gs who will be available later who look pretty damn good too.
Unless Poles finds a trade partner willing to give him a 2nd (at least), I'm in favor of staying in that top-10-12 range and getting a true blue chip player at a premium position.

On talent alone, Nabors should be out of range for us but he did get arrested with a gun in Vegas (charges later dropped).
Wonder if Poles has any character concerns with him?

+1 As much as I am all about the offense, I figure you don't reach with that #9. If the best guy is a blue chip D guy, then you pick the best player.

Having said that, my best hope is that Odunze reaches us. If so, yes you take him without looking back.
The Bears have sucked for decades not only at drafting QBs, but also at drafting WRs. Alshon Jeffery has been the best WR we have drafted in 20 years and he was only good for a couple seasons. It's no wonder why we suck so bad at pass offense.
I'm beginning to think that all 3 of the top QBs will be gone and all 3 of the top WRs will be gone by pick 7 or 8.
Personally, I'd prefer OL help above a DE/Edge. With a rookie QB, we need to make sure that he gets a relatively clean pocket on 80% - 90% of his passing plays. Based on all the rankings I've seen, there could be some really tasty QR prospects as deep as the 3rd round this year.
I agree those guys may be gone, but I'd go with Edge only because we need another and I think the Ol is decent. Would Alt be an upgrade? Yes, but I'd rather fill the need than upgrade a position. Both are high value positions.
Thats my thinking 1000%. Although I love Verse even better.

I agree on this as well. I'm active on a couple of other sites and a grabbed the image that one of the other folks posted on their latest PFF mock draft effort.
This assumes that Alt and all of the top 3 WRs are gone at the time our #9 pick comes up. IMO this would be a pretty decent alternative.
