yeah.... Martin. Team douche. Kinda like a team captain for them. And they had so many you had to rotate them just like a captain.

Forrest Gregg was the Packers HC back then and I think the team fed off of his old school hatred of the Bears. Regarding Martin, he had a pitiful life after that incident. The next season was his last at Green Bay (1987). He got cut mid-season after getting in a bar fight in Green Bay. Houston picked him up for a few games but let him go too. The Falcons tried him in 1988 but he never played in a single game for them and he was out of football - only 2 seasons after the hit on McMahon. He went through alcohol abuse treatment, arrested, two divorces - and by age 45 he was dead. He died of kidney failure... a young man to die that early.

Fields per stats is a bottom tier QB. It shouldn't be too hard to upgrade. Let's take a chance on the new kid.

QB is so important. They can even help you win with a trash defense. They're basically 30-40% of the team at this point.

Patrick Mahomes has won a Super Bowl when his team allowed 25.0 points per game or more in the playoffs in both 2019 and 2022. Outside of this year. He never had a top 10 defense in his career and his offense this year lead the league with 44 drop passes. The dude had no one to throw too and has been to 6 AFC Championship games and 4 Super Bowls.

This stat above shows how important the QB is. Its almost impossible to downplay them at this point.

I have been saying this for many many years now. You need to invest in the offense if you want a good return on your investment. The QB is the centerpiece, the foundation you build upon. But you DO build upon that foundation. You don't walk away from it after one piece is in place. It would be like building a new home, and you put in this great foundation, but never build the home on top of that foundation. LOL, you end up with a hole in the ground - and no home. Same with football. The QB is the most important piece, no question about it. But you finish that offense as you build on that rock-solid foundation piece.

The job is not done until the job is finished, and finished right.
