And I am saying THIS individual player made a big improvement from 2022 to 2023. He has been on upward trajectory.
But so had Fields. Why do you want him but not Fields? Not to be a smart ass or anything. But what's the difference?
Fields "upward trajectory" needs a magnifying glass to see. Despite having Moore and Kmet his passing yardage improved only modestly from 2022 to 2023. His total yards actually declined.

I can't remember exactly, but I don't think there was a magnifying glass in the room when I saw it.

MP, he sure looked to me like he had an upward trajectory during the last half of the season - his most recent games here. He was finally beginning to look like the guy we had hoped he would be here. I do believe there is context to be considered but we have talked it all to death so I won't go into it again. But he did improve. That being said, I do believe the Bears will trade Fields. He will probably end up being a very solid QB in the NFL for the new team. He could very well have a better career than the rookie we bring in to replace him. Not saying that will happen. Just saying that drafting a quarterback isn't a sure thing. I hope it all pans out and the new guy is great here and a Stroud-II.
As I said before, I have not studied all these guys, but I have seen Powers-Johnson. I do believe he is worthy of a late first or early second round pick. We could trade down from #9 to around #18 and still have a good chance to get him. He can also play guard, so he and the guy we get in the draft could end up as starters replacing Patrick and Davis. The question I keep asking is, assuming we are using #9 for “max QB support” for Williams, which option adds the most to the Bears offense:
1. Powers-Johnson plus a picked obtained in the trade down. 2. Best WR on the board if Harrison, Nabers, Odunze are gone already at #9.
i think the answer is #1.
I think there is low chance there isnt Harrison, Nabers, Odunze or Bowers at 9. One should be there. And we take him.
I would take edge or Newton at #9 over Bowers, unless hell bent on drafting offense no matter what. No offense to Bowers, but I’d rather trade down a bit and get Powers-Johnson. I predict Eberflus will push for defense if the top-3 WRs are gone.

I tend to agree with you, but then I also think of how a super TE can affect an offense. What Kelce or Gronk means to an offense is maybe even more than a top WR. Supposedly, Bowers is in that league. Hard to walk from that.

Last 7 games back after the injury he had: 194 ypg avg, 5 TDs, 3 INTs, 85.2 QBR avg
You be the judge of course but A) that's nothing remotely special and B) its only slightly better than his overall career numbers. Those just aren't the stats you see from QBs you want to ride with and pay big money to in a year.
Sometimes I wonder since we're Bear fans. We don't understand how important QB play is. Fields numbers are bad and yet building a super team around him is what most want here.
Here is a good video of the top 10 worst QBs to win a Super Bowl.
Even our beloved Jim is consider one of the worst QBs to win.
Super Teams is basically catching lightning in a bottle. It doesn't work for long term success. You have to move on from Fields...

Would a genie in a bottle be easier?
It most likely would be. The 49ers are a great example of a Super Team failing.
In the last 5 years. Been to 4 NFC Championship games and 2 Super Bowls. Lost both Super Bowls and Lost 2 NFC Championship games.
They're a failed Dynasty.
Look at the QBs that played there.
Jimmy Garoppolo Trey Lance Brock Purdy
Their 2 Super Bowl loses came from the Chiefs while being up by 10 points. A QB will make or break your team. Its the sad reality of the NFL>

I would say the opposite is true. We know. We probably know more than any other franchise in the NFL. We fans may disagree on where to go from here as far as our QB - and that's 100% okay (LOL, as long as we don't beat the already dead horse here). We all have our opinions and by this point we know everyone's stance regarding Fields/Williams/other QB. But one thing we are all in agreement on. We all, desperately want a great QB here - whether that is with a new guy or Fields finally taking off and being the guy... just end the pain, LOL. That we agree on.
