Same play Baldy referenced above. I'll yelled all season about the personnel usage of the Bears on OFF AND DEF. Its also reported that on one GB TD in the redzone none of the starting DL was out there. Inexcusable and IMO a fire-able call for a coach.
I know Flus isn't directly managing substitutions for the DEF, I don't know how NFL teams handle things like that. (I can't find any info so teams mist consider it a very very important.) But, they have to know from their charting who was out there from game to game.
As far as Getsy and that one call, I think he calls plays based on personnel packages (I could be MSU things here). I think he sent in a personnel package designed to look like a pass, had a play action component but ends up a blind bootleg for Fields. Look at the blockers to the bootside....Taylor and Tonyon! I think this was a shot play, with Jones one on one down the opposite sideline. But again, terrible design and personnel.

The CHGO crew picked up on that stuff too. You're not MSU. You are correct--Getsy has ALL SEASON LONG had stupid personnel packages out there (using Tyler Scott and Trent Taylor to block for example).
They also pointed out, that when Nate Davis went out, they put Whitehair in at RG, a position he hasn't played since 2017. Earlier in year when Davis was hurt, they had CW at LG and moved Jenkins to RG which was much more effective.
These things look bad for Getsy but also fall on Flus. We haven't even mentioned in all our talk about the OC's suckitude, that Flus's DC was even more terrible before he mysteriously disappeared after having porn on his computer or whatever.
How anyone could want any part of this coaching staff back is beyond me.
I honestly thought the Bears would show up for this game. No. It was just one more ass-whipping by the Packers. Our defense couldn’t stop anything. Our offense couldn’t do anything.
1. Who hired these coaches? Poles. 2. Who built this roster? Poles. 3. Who is going to get the blame? Eberflus, Getsy, Fields.
I really do not believe Poles selected Eberflus. Several reports have come out with Greg Gabriel former Bear scout confirming Poles was pretty much given Flus by the search committee. Similar to Pace pairing with J Fox. Poles definitely dismantled and rebuilding which we just saw year 2 of or year 1 of rebuilding in Earnst. The coaches deserve the blame. Everyone just needs a fresh start. Flus did good as DC, unfortunately as HC his job is larger than that.
Poles said himself that he fell in love with Eberflus at first sight. He accepted the job on the condition that he has final authority in the head coach decision. The committee gave him three recommendations. He chose Flus. End of story.

There have been multiple sources report otherwise. And even if you DO believe the "party line" on this, he still was not in on the interviews and forced to pick from 3 people that he had NOT picked. And you saw the people on that HC hiring committee right? Holy cow. The search team consisted of Ted Phillips, George McCaskey, Tanesha Wade (she is hired as a "diversity" person... not sure what that involves but it sure isn't football), Bill Polian and "Soup" Campbell an ex-cornerback for the Lions (back in the day). LOL. You can't make this stuff up it's so crazy. This "committee" handed Poles 3 folders and told him to pick one of there "guys" - and Poles picked Eberflus. The reports are that he was pressured into picking Flus due to the fact he was their golden boy from the interviews. Now, keep in mind Ryan Poles is a 36 year old who understand very very very few people EVER get to be 1 of these 32 general managers of a professional football franchise.
Do you think he was going to insist on picking someone else? LOL.

I think he was onboard with Eberflus even before he became GM. They had a prior relationship. He insisted that he have final authority. He could have gone to Vikings if he didn’t like any of the three. Eberflus was his guy and still is. They are a package deal.
But here's the thing, David, not even Warren has that authority now. We are being told that the Eberflus tenure decision will be made by the family - but Warren will have some "input" on that decision... Poles isn't even a byword in the decision.

Diversity. You have to treat good coaches and bad coaches the same. The league needs diversity. We got the bad one, but someone got a good one to balance us out.

Where was that? I didn't see that anywhere
It is in one of these threads here. I can Google it too. It was reported that the decision would be made by George and if memory serves me right it mentioned other ownership. They did say that Warren would have "input" in the decision. Whatever that means. Poles was not even mentioned.

The owner can always veto any decision. That’s true for any franchise. The question is how much will McCaskey defer to Warren. If he’s true to his own words, he will defer unless Warren wants something George thinks is absolutely outrageous. I don’t think that’s likely. It’s not difficult to make a case for either firing or keeping Eberflus. When Warren makes his speech supporting Flus this week, he will stress the importance of stability, continuity, blah, blah, blah. Warren himself will be influenced by Poles strong support for Flus. If Poles were to throw Flus under the bus in his conference with Warren, I think Flus would get fired. That’s why I hold Poles largely responsible for Flus.
