I still believe Getsy is calling the screens because Fields struggles with quick slants that would kill the blitzes. Probably how Minneapolis knew to play the screen. Anyone have all 22 that can look at that? I believe Bagent ran slants so would probably need to watch some of his tape also to confirm my suspicions.
I have All 22...I'll take a look, but theres examples of Fields throwing slants this season, particularly to Moore..
So what’s your theory why Bears have 18 horizontal passes and 2 passes downfield in the game? There has to be an explanation for this insanity.

I think its what Flus and Getsy have said previously...thats the best way they believe to beat a blitz heavy defense. I don't disagree with that totally...it gets the ball out quick, my biggest issue is that there was nothing built off of any of those plays to slow the db's down from crashing hard on the receivers. Getsy never made them second guess themselves one time! And my God it became so obvious when they were being called. And the lack of in breaking routes to the middle of the field when they were leaving it wide open was maddening!

It is that simple. Flus said as much in his press conference. You attack a pressure DEF by getting the ball out quick. Not one single pump and go, no slants, no boots to escape pressure...that OFF play calling was criminal.
But Flus still OKed the plan.
Flus: Whats the plan for the pressure? Getsy: Well, ball out quick ...you know, screens and the like. Flus: Quick passes? Getsy: Yeah, like screens...you know. Flus: OK quick passes. Getsy: You know, screens....and... Flus: OK
Flus: (later that night to his wife) I didn't think "screens and you know" meant only screens....

Troy Aikman was complaining that Vikes weren’t blitzing Fields enough. Throwing a dozen WR screens will discourage the opponents from blitzing. So it worked from that perspective, but it doesn’t score points.
Now let’s see whether the Bears learned anything and will open up the offense in the coming games. If they stick to what they have been doing, the darker theories come into play.

Kurt Warner was saying on the Score that screens are only 1 of a number of ways to deal with blitzes... that you don't just run the same play over and over again against those pressures. That was the head-scratcher thing for most people. Why be a one trick pony offense like that? It just makes zero sense. This Getsy offense is really bad from a scheme and play-calling standpoint. I'm not saying we have great all-around talent on offense. Obviously we don't. But Getsy is just hurting the team by not making the best use of the talent we DO have there.

You know what we could have next year, if we buy or draft a real good C? We could have a pretty awesome, and young OL. Not injury proof though.

+1 I totally agree with you. The C and depth issues are soooooooooooooooo fixable. That is why I get so frustrated with the Bears. No more JAGs on the OL at C. Invest a decently high draft pick in a C with elite potential. Elite. No more tired ass vets there like Lucas Patrick. And sure, it's fine to get veteran depth. If the veteran is a high quality backup. Patrick and Whitehair need to be let go after this season ends.

True. That’s why I have been saying for months that I want a great route running slot receiver to run quick slants and out routes against third down blitzes on Fields. Sad to say Tyler Scott isn’t looking like the guy so far.
Eagles use QB draw with Hurts against blitz. Bears could do that more. Or just run draw with the RB. But you are right. Getsy hardly does anything except WR screen. That has to change, and I think it will next game.

I think Aikman was more talking about in the last 2 minutes...I'd have to see if I could find the blitz percentage for the game...seemed like they blitzed a lot to me.

The problem is they do have a guy who FOR SURE can do that in Moore, and a guy we'll argue whether he can do it in Mooney. I can probably count on one hand the amount of slants Moore has run this season. For a guy with his YAC skills, thats criminal.
