I know Minny loves to blitz, but you don't make them pay when every pass goes laterally. Take some friggen shots down the field!!! Just scared coaching in my opinion and it put the players in bad positions. I still maintain Fields is a much better QB with a play caller that has a clue and some balls.
...lets get MHJr lined up across from him next year with a play caller who is good beyond the 10 plays they script during the week and I think this offense takes off.
Getsy doesn't seem to realize that WR screens only work for real NFL offenses because the CBs have to respect the med-deep passing game. When the CB doesn't have to worry about Mooney/Moore heading downfield at the snap they can literally play press coverage every single down.
+1 And, they ran the screen over and over and over again. What the heck is up with that?

I do agree ^^^^^
I was listening to the Hoge and Jahns podcast today and I think Jahns mentioned how everyone up in the press box kept waiting for a play off of those receiver screens to make the Vikings pay...and it never came!! Just malpractice.
Agreed. But Eberflus is the Head Coach. He must be going along with the same old crap week after week. And Warren and Poles are over both of themWhich is it?
or (4) Flus is overwhelmed with being both the DC and the HC and has completely ignored what Getsy is doing. In any case, look at my Avatar. . . Flus and Getsy and the entire coaching staff need to go. I'm just saying Getsy should have been shown the door weeks ago.
Well, Flus probably does ignore what Getsy is doing in practices, but no way he can ignore what was happening in games. Same applies to Poles.

I still believe Getsy is calling the screens because Fields struggles with quick slants that would kill the blitzes. Probably how Minneapolis knew to play the screen. Anyone have all 22 that can look at that? I believe Bagent ran slants so would probably need to watch some of his tape also to confirm my suspicions.
More passes at or behind the LOS than in front, and only 1 beyond 10 yards. A high school kid could playcall better than Getsy.

I keep vacillating between three possibilities: (1) They are all truly this INCREDIBLY incompetent or (2) coaches are under orders to stay ultra-conservative in play calling to tank again for draft picks (Ric’s theory) or (3) Getsy simply doesn’t trust Fields to throw downfield.
Which is it?
It's 1 and 3
GMs tank. Owners may tank. Even players may quit trying and mail it in. But coaches don't tank. Coaches get fired every year and their lifespan is short if they're losing.
And if you saw Poles watching the game last night, you know there's no way he's "ordering Glus to lose". He was apoplectic.
Sorry, that's a crazy theory.
PS: Regarding #3, assuming it is true and I think it definitely it is, that's just reason #274 to fire Getsy. What the eff are you doing having an OC who doesn't want to evaluate the QB you are trying to evaluate? That's like having a tax accountant who "doesn't have confidence in math".

I have All 22...I'll take a look, but theres examples of Fields throwing slants this season, particularly to Moore...
