Goff is a great example of first round QBs not always being

Problem is normally teams at the top of the draft aren't good teams, or well run teams, so it won't matter who it taken at the top of the draft. What has Mario Williams or Suh won for their teams? Bad teams cannot continually draft well enough or bring in the correct FA's or staffs to build a proper team.

As for the QB is w/out question the most important player on any team, so you'll take a shot at the best qb over any other player that might be better at their position, or a better player b/c they aren't as likely to influence a game.

What matter does it matter if they are good if they don't help you win? You want great players on your team; key is the plural in players, one or 2 won't matter. And w/QB it's only the rare ones that can look great w/out other greats there helping, and chances are you aren't going to keep them altogether for a long period of time, so you are hoping that one of those top qb prospects develop into one of those special guys. 

And that's were teams that are always at the top fail, they dont' continue to put good players around a good player. Thats my point. And QB is more dependent on other good players then anyone else. The greats are less dependent though, really who has Brady or Brees or Rogers or even Big Ben consistently had to throw to? Gronk hasn't been around that long, Rogers has done a lot w/Brady like talent around him. That's why teams are trying to get those type QB's.  A great DE, hell even 2 or 3 great pass rushers aren't going to consistently get you on their backs and make a SB run(see den), if they can do it at all(see hou).

It boils down to supply and demand.  Top-tier quarterbacks are few.  Yet every team wants one.  It's basic economics 101 at play here.  Teams drive up the draft price to crazy heights.  QB's are over-drafted every single year.  It's what teams do.  Over and over and over again you see teams pass-over incredible players to draft a bust QB - or at the very least a mediocre QB.  The players passed over, are often players who go on to have stellar careers, even All-Pro and Hall of Fame careers for some.  

The stupid teams that do this, might as well take that 1st round draft pick and flush it down the toilet for all the good it does them.

Supply and demand.  Teams being stupid, over-drafting QB's.  It's what many teams do.  I notice you don't see Bill Belichick doing this.  Brady out, he just trots out another guy (not a first round QB) and keeps on winning.  Belichick builds the TEAM, rather than doing the Browns thing drafting a small army of 1st round QBs.  He wins.  When Brady hangs up his career, Belichick won't miss a beat.  I dead-bang guarantee you he will go on winning, and winning super bowls as long as he coaches in the NFL.
