Like I told others before. Goff isn't the answer for the Lions. There is a reason why the Rams traded him away when they had a super team in 2018 and only scored 3 points in the Super Bowl.
If Lions want to win. They need to draft an average QB this offseason.
Can we trade Fields to the Lions for a second rd pick and then draft Drake Maye?

Did you watch the game? Goff was getting crushed all day by the pass rush. Gary alone had 3 sacks. Lions defense has been poor the last few games, too. I am not a big fan of Goff. He’s a second tier QB, but DOES play well when the supporting cast — especially the OL — is performing well.
Except he couldn't. For starters, Houston was at 2, then DURING THE DRAFT they traded up to 3 with Arizona to have back to back picks. Houston wouldn't do the deal wouldn't do the deal with Chicago to trade up from 2 to 1. This is WELL DOCUMENTED...it's not conjecture, or opinion...its literal fact.
From Jay Glazer: "Little #NFL Draft scoopage, originally the Bears were trading that top pick with Houston to go to #2, then Chicago had deal pretty much worked out with Carolina to go from 2 to 9. Looked like it was going to happen then Houston source says they just couldn’t get that part of the deal done so Bears made the eventual move with Panthers, who now have their guy. Young likely would have been the guy for Texans. Instead he’ll go to Carolina. Ahhh what could have been"
Poles wanted the #2 and #12 picks from the Texans and the Texans wouldn't do it. So no...he couldn't have traded with the Texans because the Texans didn't want to trade. You make these statements as if there isn't another party involved and that that party has to want to be willing participant. By the way, Anderson only has 3 sacks on the year...I'm sure you wouldn't be killing Poles for that right now, like you are for this FICTIONAL draft scenario you say he could have done.
Lastly, it is MORE than just my opinion that the trade down to 9 was a great idea. Many people from people that cover the league, to NFL people also agree. That is also literal fact.
He could have traded the #1 pick to the Texans instead of the Panthers. The fact that it didn’t happen doesn’t mean it could not have happened. Simple modal logic.
There were others who had the same OPINION as you. There were many others who had the OPINION that he should not trade down lower than #4 in order to draft Anderson/Carter.
Sure...and I COULD hit the powerball. Just cause he technically COULD have done something doesn't make it the right move. The Texans didn't want to make the move...in your make believe world Poles should have settled for less just to make the move with the Texans. Do you see how silly that sounds? He should have passed up on a stud receiver, 2 high first round picks and a likely high second round pick just so you can be right in your make believe world.

Now you are finally getting it. If he wanted Anderson, he could have traded with Texans.
For all we know about Anderson, he may be Pro Bowl for the next 8 years, and most of Poles picks — like the ones so far — won’t amount to much. But, as I’ve said before, if Bears are Super Bowl ready by 2025, all is forgiven.

So to go along with the make believe world you thought up and Pat expanded on. What if Anderson does go all pro and all those picks that we would have gotten ALL GO ALL PRO!!
1 All pro in Anderson vs 1 stud receiver, 2 Stud 1st rounders, and a stud 2nd rounder who all could be all pro in make believe land.
Your math seems just as good as Paces was. Perhaps you should be a GM of a team.
Do you really not understand what is being talked about? Or are you just silver fox trolling us all?

Aye ya yai...yeah...I got it alright. Please don't ever apply for an NFL GM job.

If the guys Poles drafts are All Pro for the next 8 years, that’s better than drafting Anderson. I guess he can’t miss on Harrison, jr. If Panthers keep losing. But as you always say, no way to KNOW that before the draft. Beyond that no-brainer #1 pick, I don’t have confidence in Poles drafts in 2024.
