Lions beat Bears - who gets the deflated ball?

No revisionist history. I said the same thing before the draft. Once Anderson/Carter were off the table, I wanted JSN in first round and BPA right tackle in second round. You can check it, if you don’t remember.

This was one of the draft sites that had Jones and Wright similarly rated. PFF had him #7 and Wright #4.

Jones was extremely impressive at the Senior Bowl. Getsy saw him up close and probably reported that to Poles. At the time, I watched that Lorin Cox YouTube report from the Senior Bowl, and he said everyone there was raving about how good Jones looked.

He started the season #2 on the depth chart behind All-Pro Jack Conklin who had just signed a $60 million contract extension with the Browns. Conklin went out with ACL injury in first game, and Jones took over the job. Like Brax, it doesn’t matter where you are drafted --- only how you can play.

Against TJ Watt last game: 19 pass plays, 0 sacks, 0 pressures.

An elite pass blocking tackle is worth his weight in gold, even if not a great run blocker .

Consistency matters, too. So far, Jones has been far more consistent.  Plus, it would not have been necessary to spend the #9 pick to draft him — getting back to my draft plan.

No, he has not.  He has given up more sacks than any of the rookie tackles in the 2023 draft class.  His PFF passing grade is weak compared to others.  Consistency gets you a 70+ pass protection grade.  D. Jones is well over 70.  So was Brax last year. Wright is under 60.    He has a greater pass blocking loss rate than any of the Bears starters, according to that chart somebody posted last week, if you recall.  He is a very good run blocker.
