I did not want to trade down lower than #4. As it turns out Anderson was gone. He could have traded to Texans and got Anderson. As for Carter, if he is Warren Sapp 2.0 and goes to the Hall of Fame, I will get the last laugh on this. Checking yesterday, he is tied with Aaron Donald for NFL lead in pass rush win rate for defensive lineman at 20%. Donald is double-teamed 63% and Carter 58%. His PFF grade is 90.5. Keep your draft picks, especially with Poles doing the drafting. Nearly everyone he has acquired so far in draft or free agency has not exceeded expectations based on their draft position or $$$ cost as FA. It is not at all clear that Wright was the best right tackle in this draft. Let’s see how he stacks up against both of the Jones boys (Dewand and Broderick) by the end of the year.
Oh you like Carter/Sapp? We didn't know this.
We have to find a way to train you to look to the future. I hope you find your dream Carter/Sapp and live happily ever after.
The future I’m waiting for is post-Poles/Eberflus.
What a prediction LOL!!! Only problem is we passed on only one of those guys. Unless you believe we shouldn't have made the trade to acquire DJ Moore, this years likely top 2 pick, and a high second round pick next year. I know you're not going to try to make THAT argument...right?

Except he couldn't have. And just like the sentence I bolded the rest of your paragraph is wrong, conjecture, or pure opinion at best.

Wrong. He could have traded the #1 pick to the Texans instead of the Panthers and drafted Anderson.
And it is your OPINION that trading down to #9 was a great idea.

Except he couldn't. For starters, Houston was at 2, then DURING THE DRAFT they traded up to 3 with Arizona to have back to back picks. Houston wouldn't do the deal wouldn't do the deal with Chicago to trade up from 2 to 1. This is WELL DOCUMENTED...it's not conjecture, or opinion...its literal fact.
From Jay Glazer: "Little #NFL Draft scoopage, originally the Bears were trading that top pick with Houston to go to #2, then Chicago had deal pretty much worked out with Carolina to go from 2 to 9. Looked like it was going to happen then Houston source says they just couldn’t get that part of the deal done so Bears made the eventual move with Panthers, who now have their guy. Young likely would have been the guy for Texans. Instead he’ll go to Carolina. Ahhh what could have been"
Poles wanted the #2 and #12 picks from the Texans and the Texans wouldn't do it. So no...he couldn't have traded with the Texans because the Texans didn't want to trade. You make these statements as if there isn't another party involved and that that party has to want to be a willing participant. By the way, Anderson only has 3 sacks on the year...I'm sure you wouldn't be killing Poles for that right now, like you are for this FICTIONAL draft scenario you say he could have done.
Lastly, it is MORE than just my opinion that the trade down to 9 was a great idea. Many people from people that cover the league, to NFL people also agree. That is also literal fact.

He could have traded the #1 pick to the Texans instead of the Panthers. The fact that it didn’t happen doesn’t mean it could not have happened. Simple modal logic.
There were others who had the same OPINION as you. There were many others who had the OPINION that he should not trade down lower than #4 in order to draft Anderson/Carter.
Yes. Could/Should have been The Beloved who beat them first.
Not sure the Lions are going to feast or roar this year.
Poor David. He gets so excited thinking the Lions are the bestest team without Carter/Anderson. Always talking about the Lions feasting.
Goff is starting that regression-to-the-mean thing I predicted he would do this offseason. He's been a turnover machine last two weeks. If not for Flus ineptitude, he'd have 2 bad beats in a row at home on his record.
Like I told others before. Goff isn't the answer for the Lions. There is a reason why the Rams traded him away when they had a super team in 2018 and only scored 3 points in the Super Bowl.
If Lions want to win. They need to draft an average QB this offseason.
