Read about Young to refresh my memory.

2020: Drafted #2 overall and had a stud rookie year with 7.5 sacks and getting names DROY.
2021: Had a sophomore slump (only 1.5 sacks in first 9 games), then had ACL tear and out for the year.
2022: Started on PUP and didn't get on the field until the very end of the season. Wash DECLINED his 5th year option.
2023: Looks much better, 5 sacks so far.

So he becomes a FA in March and therefore a new contract is part of any deal.

I'm sticking with a 3rd as my best offer. He has injury risk, he's only been back from that injury 1/2 of a season, and needs a new contract as part of the trade. I think a 3rd is enough.

It's tempting no question. If they won't bite on a 3rd, I could see Poles going for it. We are so needy at DE, no pass rush at all.

Can you imagine the shit Poles will bring down on his head if he makes this deal and it doesn't work out after the Claypool fiasco?

Oh I agree but I hope the Claypool problem won't hold him back from hidden gems either.

I ask for a 3rd and one of our two 4th round picks as an offer first.

Young is no Khalil Mack but he'll look like the closes thing to a blue chip player we have on the line. We need quality players now. Going into year 3 of this rebuild and the only true difference maker we have on this team is DJ Moore right now. Even if Young averages 5 sacks a year. That's still half of what our defense alone did this year.

Didn't we see this last season? Fans clamoring for a trade, Poles offers a second, Bears get headcase/injured player, Bears don't draft a C, fans revolt call Poles an idiot for making a trade they all wanted, talk about all the AP/PB/HOF centers that got drafted......

DC is desperate also, but they don't have to trade them, even if they don't resign both, they could get comp picks for either and/or both, considering the what they will get in FA that's going to be a top comp pick also, so a 3rd rounder.

And again, Flus isn't really interested in getting his pass rush from the DE's, he wants them to be edge setters, and regardless of what you want/think/know, he's not guaranteed to be fired, nor is Poles. So the team will move forward w/getting what Flus wants/needs. W/that being the case, the Bears should be looking for an upgrade at DT/NT, not DE.

I'm all for them getting 1 of the 2, but I'm also not going to assume they will even try based on what we know about Flus and what he's looking for.
