So it was reported yesterday that Robinson was recruiting Hurns. Hurns also stated a few teams, including the Bears reached out to him. If Lemming is correct, both should expect to get around 6mil per year in a contract offer.
Hurns has played since he got into the leauge 4 years ago, 6'3" 202 lbs and 26yrs old, first 2 years were pretty good, but the last 2 years have seen injuries lower his production. his catch to target ratio isn't great either. But when he does get the ball in his hands he gets first downs and a hanfull of TD's.
Cam didn't play until his 2nd year in the league, and then it was pretty limited action, 6'3" 207 lbs and 25yrs old, but his 3rd year was solid. His 4th year was expected to be his next big step but was derailed by an injury of his own. He catches more balls thrown his way, but he doesn't seem to get them for FD's or TD's as often when he gets his chance.
It's Pace's and Nagy's decision but I tend to favor rewarding our own guys plus Cam should be a less expensive signing.
We'll see what happens. So far the Colts are the only team he's reported to be visiting and somehow I can't help but think no one is gonna make him an offer Pace can't match if he chooses. Hurns availability also give teams an option to pursue a similar player whose not a RFA.

If cheaper Cam is the obvious choice and I would agree completely, but Lemming seems to think both will command 6 mil a year. At that point I think it's worth a discussion since Hurns has shown an ability to produce at a higher level(1k yard season), w/a trash qb throwing him the ball. Cams had trash throwing him the ball also, but never quite got to 1k yards.
Not sure either are worth 6 mil a year though. I think I would take a flyer on a 2nd 3rd(if trade back happens) or 4th round WR over paying another that much money. I'd sooner get a OG, DE or another pass rusher at 6mil.
I'd let is play out and see what happens but I think we can be pretty certain Pace isn't going into 2018 with Kevin White as his #2 WR. LOL Hurns release simply provides another option for anyone looking for a WR.
Besides we still have more than enough cap to add an OL or DL if we want. Unless someone comes along at a price too good to pass up I expect that may not happen 'til after the draft.

Hurns: sports hernia (2015), hamstring injury (2016), torn ACL (2017) Cam: torn ACL (2017)
I have nothing against Hurns but I'd choose the player who's had fewer injuries in his career. $6M may be a lot but sometimes you gotta pay a little more to keep and develop your own players. He knows Trubsiky, knows the city and what it's like to play outside in the cold, he's a Westchester, IL native and went to IL State.

I think that's valid, but Hurns has also played 4 and got hurt 2, Cam played 2 and got hurt 1.
Not sure Cam knows that much more about Trubs then any other WR, he was playing w/Glennong more then Trubs.
*I'm not voting btw, wanted others opinions
My issue w/both is the cost. I think I saw Lemming say that if they signed Hurns at 6mil that the bears would have something like 24 or 30 mil wrapped into the WR area, assuming Cam gets the same(again Lemming)just seems like a lot for a position that is imporant, but not THAT important.
I was really hoping for the Bears to get Cam at 2-4 mil, not sure 1 year of good but not great production is worth 6 mil a year.
I want to see the Bears sign their own, proven players. I'm sure either player here would be okay, but I would prefer Meredith. Regarding the money issue, I figure that's something for Pace to worry about. Not me. If we have the money, then spend it on proven players. As far as investing big money in WRs, well, if we are not prepared to support Mitchell Trubisky, then why draft him? Just keep on keeping on with crap offenses and crap QBs. Meredith is 25 years old and just entering his prime years. He could be a nice asset for Trubisky as he learns his craft. Hopefully if we do this right we can become a competitive franchise again. I am so tired of us being in last place in the NFCN and just stinking it up every year.

My vote is for Meredith. I have a bias towards receivers who were college QBs. IMO they tend to have a higher football IQ than most receivers.
Before his injury he was really coming on. The issue with Meredith in my mind is his recovery from his injury. As I recall, it was more than just an ACL. I thought there was at least a small tear in his MCL as well.
It could be that his recovery will be a bit longer than usual for a simple ACL injury. If so, it will affect everything, what he gets offered from other teams, how hard Pace pursues signing him, etc.

JMO.
But has Cam proven anything? He's essentially played 1 year. I'm w/you sign your guys, but that thought is normally b/c your guys should be at a cheaper price.
