Hi guys. Here's my thoughts- I don't want JCut here any more. But I also didn't want to suck for the last several years, and how did that turn out? There is not a QB in this draft class that I would waste a top 5 pick on, including Kizer or Watson. I would much rather have an elite player that is top notch, can't miss. There are a couple of intriguing prospects that will go in the 2nd/3rd round, and I would snag one there, (one named Chad Kelly, who played at Ole Miss) and let him compete w/ Cutty, and if not beat him outright, take over in game 4 when Cutty breaks his leg/arm/toe/finger/thumb/whateveritisthisyear.
So the top qb's aren't good enough, so you want one of the guys that isn't as good as them? Chad Kelly, ugh. So why isn't Watson, who was the consensus #1 pick last year, and just beat colleges best def in the championship game not worth a top 5 pick?
I just don't want to see Cutler's successor getting anointed. I'd rather have them beat Cutler out - that way you at least have some comfort you are getting an upgrade. I also want to see some proper competition for the QB spot and for them to start whoever is playing best.
More often then not that's not how it works in the NFL; and so far Im not sure that's how it's worked w/Pace/Fox who have removed players to ease the way for the guys they want to have the spot, Marshal traded for White, Slaussen sent packing for Whitehair, Forte not re signed for Langford(who couldn't get him off the field unless Forte was inj'd), Bennett sent away for Miller.
This team very much will remove competition for their guys, specifically their draft picks.

Just a question of round/pick value. I am not sold on Watson, he played well at times in college, surrounded by very good to great talent in comparison to his competition. My team played him a couple times, not that impressed. On the other hand, Kelly can ball. He did it with less talent than Watson, is more of a true QB as opposed to a dual threat guy, and can likely be had for a lesser pick. Elite D-end + Kelly vs Watson and 2nd tier whoever else, that's why. Also, I think he will end up just like RGIII. If he had the size/strength of Cam, we wouldn't be having the same convo.
Or he ends up like Dak and Rus Wilson who people also thought could end up like RGIII.
I'm not sold on Kelly at all, there was a convo earlier today about Cutler and some of the other tests teams run that aren't just football related and how Cutler failed at those, and I have no doubt Kelly will also, and will likely end up w/a Cutler or lower lvl of play; which is not good enough regardless of draft position.
I haven't looked up the size comparison, but I am pretty sure Dak is bigger/thicker and better built for NFL play. The comparison w/ Wilson is a good one, Watson could very well end up being very Wilson-esque. Any way we go, we are going to need to build our offense to the QB's strengths, something that Chicago has not done in my lifetime. I don't think that Wilson would have done nearly as well in Chicago as he has in Seattle, which kills me to say as I detest Petey- but he has done a great job up there. Also- Cutler's inability to do great things has more to do with his mental ability as opposed to his physical, I am not sure if that is what you are referring to w/ the tests, and I also have no idea of Kelly's mental aptitude. Maybe he is Cutler jr. But Cutler never lit it up at Vandy like Kelly did at Mississippi.

I'm ok w/Kelly. Mostly because I think he can be had cheap and I like the risk reward on him. Would I pick him with the #3? No friggen way.
And I also would not want to put all my eggs in his basket. He'd be a second QB pick just to be insurance and in case he turned out to be better than my "go to" QB pick.

Deshaun Watson - 6 ft 3 in 215 lb We will need the combine to prove these numbers true, or to find out the true measurements, but he is also entering the draft as a true junior. Deshaun is currently 21 years old, so, in theory, has time to fill his frame.

I want a guy that can play, and the chances of finding a guy in the 4th is less likely in rds 1 and 2.

I'm not really worried about age, how many years did they play and what kind of competition was faced.
Hmmm maybe Watson just looks more slender b/c with that extra inch and 10 lbs lighter. That really isn't as big a difference as I thought. Back to Kelly- no way I spend a 1st round pick on him, especially top five. But that is the rub, you get him in the 2nd or 3rd, depending on how far everyone thinks he falls, and you get an elite pass rusher at 3. Otherwise you have to be sold that Watson is the franchise savior. Not sold on that. I will start drinkin' the Kool-aid if we pick him though. Full on sunshine pumper, here we go.
