Come on now, didn't 31 other teams pass on him 3 times?
edit
how did the 1st pick ( goff ) work out?
unfair comparison, some teams aren't in the market for a QB NE, Indy, NO's, etc. Some teams had already drafted a QB, Philly, Den, tc. Bears ARE in the market for a QB and had NOT drafted one come the 4th. So 32 teams or more did NOT pass on him b/c they were not in the same situation as the Bears.
Did you not HEAR the presser? Fox says the team is in a good place.
You don't think it is?
Come on, man. We all know the only thing we're missing is just a little more talent, some pixie dust and BOOM - we're back in the race.

At least 3 new DB's. a legit backup NT, a new 5 tech opposite Hicks, a QB and a new TE/#2 WR combo and I think you have a team that could compete in most games, and in a few years is regularly making a showing in the playoffs.

Ric, I've personally come to the conclusion that none of that matters until we get a good quarterback. It doesn't have to be a Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers, but until Ryan Pace can get us a solid QB, the team is just pissing in the wind.
Getting a solid QB is Job-1 if the team expects to run with the big dogs of the NFL. Until that day we are just another wannabee team.

Been saying this for several years now. Cutler and the "he's good enough" crowd are wrong, you cannot settle for "good enough "at qb. You might not need HoF generational talent there, but you better have something that's just a step behind, and not a mile behind.
QB's are how teams build consistent playoff caliber teams. After that you need to build OL/DL, then the rest of the def and then rb's then WR's/TE's.

+1 I realize there are a lot of moving parts in building a solid NFL football team. I get it. It isn't easy. But part of building a solid team is having a solid QB. If you can't get past that step then you have what we've had here in Chicago - we're just stinking and floating in the NFL toilet bowl with the other turds.

No, according the resident geniuses around here, you draft pass rushers and build an elite DEF, then you can simply add any QB and win multiple SB. Hoyer (who is better than Rogers) can take this team to the next level.

Tell me how that's working out in Oak now that they are on their 2nd and 3rd qb. Den is one of the few teams to win a SB and not make it to the playoffs the year after. Oak is going to be one and done after dominating all year.
Meanwhile, Pats, GB, NY, Pitt, Sea are in the playoffs AGAIN. it seems they are always in the playoffs; or at least in the the running for the playoffs b/c they have the QB position set; and that tends to mean the HC and GM are set and it all allows for some consistency. Get the QB right and you can center on building the OL/DL/LB's/DB's etc etc etc for the next 10-15 years.
That's who teams like GB/NE/Pitt have done it and done it consistently year after year since the mid 2000's.

+1 When you have QBs like Rodgers, Brady & Big Ben you are always a competitive team. You may not win a SB. You may have off years too. But you are always a pretty good team. How many times over the years have we seen games where those QB's just put the team on their shoulders and carry it to a win? Last night I so wanted Green Bay to get beat, but I just shook my head and watched a "master" at work when Aaron Rodgers just took over the game. I don't think GB has a great team this season. I don't. But with AR they "become" a great team. The guy was utterly amazing last night. Smart. A leader. Incredibly elusive under pressure. A winner.
