There was a reason why we traded a 2nd for Sweat. We all knew this year day 1 starting defense wasn't that good.
Rome and Williams was the best thing to happen for us.
Rome can learn behind Allen and Moore. Williams has 3 legit WRs to throw too.
Hard to believe we have 3 legit WR’s to throw to when we’ve seldom have had 1.
I know. It's like the Chicago Bears have finally embraced the forward-pass concept. Next they'll be liking the change from the leather-helmets. LOL. Kudos to Warren/Poles/Eberflus.

Maybe those guardian caps could be made to look like the old leather helmets? That could be cool. At least cooler than they look in your photo in the new thread.
This kind of attention to detail (and secondarily, the amount of time and effort required) is what makes a GM like Poles so special. We all love players who are intelligent and have impeccable work habits. Well, it goes for GMs too.
I had a memory on Facebook pop up this morning from a post 12 years ago that simply said "Shea McClellin?!" 12 years ago we were all trying to wrap our minds around how Phil Emery could draft some dude named Shea McClellin and today we're trying to wrap our minds around Caleb Williams PLUS Rome Odunze. The difference in the two GM's is incredible. And then you add in Atlanta (Ryan Pace is Director of Player Personnel) with the huge overreach for Penix? So glad to have Poles as GM here!

I'm incredibly pleased with the first round. I know there are some who wished The Bears could have somehow Landed MHJ but even though, on paper, he might be the better receiver I think Rome is the better wide out for Chicago and its new quarterback. There's more to selecting the right player than overall skillset. Scheme fit and personality matter just as much. Odunze style and particular set of skills will lends itself to Williams more cohesively and their personalities have meshed since day one.
I just have a feeling when the two of them are on the field they will a Vulcan mind meld and be on page day one which matters more than a couple extra receptions and a hundred more yards in college. It doesn't matter where a player is drafted and what his collegiate rankings where just what he does in the pros. At the end of the day if our guy has more yards and helps his team get to the playoffs then the team got THEIR player.

Odunze contested catch rate will make him very fun to watch. I do think Nabers has the highest ceiling of this draft compared to the rest. I'm just super happy we got a QB/WR combo.
Williams has 1 top 10 WR to throw too, 1 top 15 WR to throw too, and now Odunze to throw too. His development should be great.
Odunze doesn't have to go all out. He has Allen and Moore to learn from. His development should be great.
Now the question is. Do we franchise tag Allen next year to allow Odunze and Williams to grow or do we have Odunze take his place?

I keep hoping the Bears can find a way to extend Allen for 2 more seasons. His style of play at WR will be solid until then. That would give Caleb his first three seasons with familiar guys who all have great talent. Maybe Allen would work with the Bears and they can find a way to keep him here without a crazy expensive contract. The Bears may be an attractive place for KA to stay with - with Caleb and this offense, as it is now after the draft, he might feel he has a shot at a super bowl here.

Depends if Allen takes a discount or not. I'm betting he came here for one last big contract with Williams throwing the ball to him. DJ Moore contract is up at 2026. If we have to pay 30 million a year to a WR. I rather it be someone who is still in their prime at 28 years old vs someone being 33 years old. Then we have to think about Williams and Odunze contract which will come up in 2028.

Yeah, those are all great points. It would have to be affordable and he probably will want too much money.
