IMO, mocks are always meaningless. Just one guys take on what will happen looked at through his own prejudices (which we all have). What matters is who the GMs pick, not what some guy thinks the GMs will pick.

We have a lot of cap room...even if Johnson gets $21 mill we'd still have $50 mill in space if we cut Whitehair and Jackson.
The “effective cap space” is 34.7.
We technically don't know what the cap room is, effective or otherwise, because the NFL hasn't set it yet for 2024. Either way, we have plenty of space.

Thats cause Q is from Jersey and that makes him that much more awesome! LOL, kidding...somewhat. Quenton Nelson also plays guard and was seen as one of the best offensive line prospects in YEARS at any position on the line, and some even had him as the best prospect overall in the 2018 draft. Powers-Johnson is not that. Not even close. I like him a lot, but he's a 1 year starter and I'm not reaching for him when, as JABF said, their are 2 or 3 other guys who may not be him, but I think are close.

To me it's like drafting a kicker/punter with that #9 draft pick this year. You CAN do that but why? I really do NOT see a center in this draft who merits a 1st round grade. But I do see 3 or 4 centers in this draft who could be top-tier players in the league once they develop. Could very well be elite. And regarding Powers-Johnson in particular, I don't have him as my #1 C in this draft anyway.

Do I really care how high or far a center can jump or 40 yard dash times in shorts in a highly controlled environment? No, I care much more about watching real game speed, quickness, technique and power in real games these guys performed in.

I agree the tape and interviews are most important. But bench press, jumping, and drills show the guy’s upper body strength, leg power, and agility. That’s why they do them.
