He only does that if he likes Maye or Fields at QB. If he keeps Fields, it would be CRIMINAL to take anyone but Harrison at #2. But that won’t happen.
Well, we don't know though. I would keep Fields and draft MHJ and the best DL guy we can get at #9. But if we do draft a QB, I am leaning more towards Maye than Williams. I just feel like Maye is the better QB1 at the NFL level. But hey, if the Bears see Caleb as the guy, then go ahead and draft him. Can't wait to watch it all happen.
I would bet you $20 that he does not draft Maye. That’s even lower probability than he keeps Fields.
Poles is keeping folks guessing this year for sure. I'm thinking more and more though, that we'll deal that 1st pick (Caleb) to the Commanders. But I have no clue as to what else will happen from there.

It depends on what Poles feels that NE will do. He could do a double trade down (from #1 to #2 and then from #2 down 1 or more slots). The firs trade would give us possibly Washington's 2nd and 3rd round picks (exact by the trade value chart) and possibly more. He could then take MHJ (or whoever he's got as the #2 WR) and his favorite DL. He would likely have 2 2nd rounders and at least 1 extra 3rd round pick after that.

Going from #2 to #1 is worth only 400 points on the sacred chart.

What does everyone think of Jayden Daniels from LSU? I have read somewhere that his numbers this year were pretty comparable to C.Will. It could be a possibility that we could trade down to two and nab MHJ then grab Jayden or flip it and grab C.Will and have Jayden drop at our 9th. I imagine there will be a team out there that is QB hungry and wanna trade up.

I'd be pretending if I said I knew who was going to be the guy. Any of these guys could be crappy in the NFL or they can be a franchise QB. The thing I've learned is that just having the best production in college does not mean it is an automatic thing when they get onto an NFL team. The college numbers just make us want them more but past that, it's a crapshoot. Emphasis on the crap.

You're right, I got #1 to #2 mixed up with #1 to #3 (800 points).

I haven't looked at Daniels' videos yet. But as far as stats go, his 2023 performance was significantly better than Williams.
The passing stats are:
Caleb Williams - 266 out of 388 (68.6% completion rate) for 3633 yds. 30 TDs and 5 picks (5:1 TD to Int ratio) QBR 170.1
Jayden Daniels - 236 out of 327 (72.2% completion rate) for 3812 yds. 40 TDs and 4 picks (10:1 TD to Int ratio) QBR 208.0
Rushing stats are:
Caleb Williams - 97 attempts for 142 yds (1.5 Y/A) 11 TDs Jayden Daniels - 135 attempts for 1134 yds (8.4 Y/A) 10 TDs
And really, the Combine doesn't do much to define how players will actually perform in real games in the NFL. It's good for affording teams the opportunity to interact with players in interviews. Do I really care how high or far a center can jump or 40 yard dash times in shorts in a highly controlled environment? No, I care much more about watching real game speed, quickness, technique and power in real games these guys performed in.
I agree the tape and interviews are most important. But bench press, jumping, and drills show the guy’s upper body strength, leg power, and agility. That’s why they do them.
I gotta be honest...as someone who's prepared guys for this...its pretty worthless. The bench press is a joke...the jumping is valuable....all the other drills though? Pointless. Guys don't play the game in tights with predetermined movements.

It's just figuring out what their game translates to at the NFL level.

I know you’ve said that before. There was a guy on the old forum who knew something about football. He made a study JJ Watts pass rush techniques. He said one of his first moves sometimes was to “bench press” the blocker to knock him back on his heels. Obviously, the more force you can apply, the more effective the technique.
