Maybe we'll do the Marvin Harrison Jr thing after all. I hope so. I so agree with what Herb Howard is saying here... the Bears fastest path to the Super Bowl is through Justin Fields.
Fields isn't taking us to the Superbowl or any other team for that matter. He's just not a good enough passer to do so.
What if he gets his Bus drivers licence? Could he then?

We can agree to disagree on that one. And this past month a number of former NFL players have also disagreed with that. People who have played the game at the highest level. And the current Bears players have (strongly) said that Justin Fields is the guy they want to go to lead them. These people know more than us meatball fans.
Ideally you have a QB who can run AND pass like Patrick Mahomes. Both. Mahomes is not a "running QB" but he can be incredibly elusive when he needs to use his feet. That's the ideal I think.
Either type QB can win. They just have to be very skilled. Drew Brees wasn’t a running QB, but had great awareness and mobility in the pocket.

The ultimate non running QB was Tom Brady. He was as mobile as a Christmas tree.

People at the highest level also said if you want the Bears to lose. Make Justin Fields play QB.
Stats show he can not lead us to the Super Bowl. You have Mahomes out there throwing to dog shit outside of Kelce with 44 drop passes for the season and yet in the Super Bowl. Played against the number one defense with zero picks.
The only thing that matters in the end are stats. Stats show he's garbage. If you need a Super team to be successful. You need a new QB.
Advanced Stats:
28th in success% - How often he succeeds in completing a pass for a % of yards until first down.
26th in ANY/A - Adjusted net yards/attempt
25th EPA/drop back - EPA = expected points added
22nd EPA/play (-.01), meaning he is a net-negative in EPA

I've watched and read much of HH's stuff. He's a total diehard Fields-fanboy. His reasoning boils down to bunch of hopes, optimistic projections, and IFs.
IF Fields gets two more good receivers... IF his pass protection is great... IF his OC can figure put how to mask his weaknesses... IF the Bears defense continues to ascend...
I've heard it all a million times. The objective criteria say otherwise. I love the idea that Fields is gonna take the Bears to the SB. That's a good one, a real laugher. He's beaten only two real starting QBs in two years. His two best games were against two terrible defenses. Outside of those two, he's thrown for only 8 TDs in 11 games!
Just this past weekend, the MVP QB of the league and a great defense couldn't make it to the SB. And neither could a QB who's production in yards and TDs is nearly DOUBLE that of Justin (4700 yards vs 2500, 29 TDs vs 16).

But yeah, Fields is gonna take us all the way.
Sure he is......
Have you ever wondered why it keeps being said?
And it's exactly the same type of defense I see on social media when people criticize Caleb Williams for his poor performance against ranked teams. That as the first thing that led me to become a bit skeptical and critical of Williams.

To be honest, any QB needs those things to play at their best. If we draft a young player then he too will develop and reach his full potential if he has a solid team and coaches, right?

Thats absolutely true, and time is now. There is a big chance ship has sailed for JF. Thats for management and staff to evaluate and predict.
