I think you can see my point.
Yes, Poles actually said that they felt they could win with Fields. Of course, the pull of a first pick for a QB and a new OC completely changes everything. I have no clue what they will do. I know my preference but that has no bearing on reality.
Lorin Cox spent a whole 30 minutes on this. I can see both sides, but I just cannot let Harrison get away. Randy Moss 2.0. Harrison, Moore, Kmet, plus a slot receiver. That should be enough.
Nobody outside Halas Hall knows what they will do.

You clearly don't see mine. Those are the exception to the rule. A better QB would likely mean more super bowls. They just didn't have a better choice. You could argue the teams even won in spite of their QB in some cases. Had they an opportunity to upgrade they certainly would have.
Not necessarily. If a GM sees a very viable path to win ONE Super Bowl NOW with his current QB, he must be “blown away” (Poles words) to trade that opportunity for a rookie QB who has never played an NFL game.
I hope they listen to what Waldron wants here. Don't force Fields on him, but rather listen to what the new OC thinks gives the Bears the best chance of success building a solid offense here. Align all the O planets this time. With a D head coach, it's kind of like the Bears have an opportunity to match the new offense, OC and QB1 this time around. And I hope the Bears pull out all of the stops to give the offense everything they can for success. It won't be close to being perfect, but it can be a heck of a lot better than what we have had. It sounds like Waldron's offense had the weak link of a bad offensive line this past year in Seattle. This year put the best OL out there that you reasonably can. Harvest another stud WR in this draft class... it doesn't have to be Marvin Harrison Jr (it won't be if the Bears draft QB1) but get the best WR you can get (this class sounds LOADED with receiver talent). Want an elite QB? Then let's set up the new OC/QB1 with the best chance of success this time around. Player talent matters on offense. Bears have the draft and FA $$$ to seriously upgrade that side of the roster this time around. Just do it.
Brugler says the top 3 centers will be gone before round 3, so it’s going to be important to either get a second round by trading Fields or else trade down the #9 pick, but then you’re not getting a WR at #9. If the top 3 WRs are gone before #9, I’d try to trade down.
Saw him on H&J. He's high on the Oregon center in rd 2. He also said Rome O is a total contested catch stud and Bears should run to the podium if he is there at 9.
I have zero problem with Poles doing that after taking a QB. He can get that 2nd by trading Fields to Tennessee or Vegas for example.

He said the same thing last year.
He should have been "blown away" with Stroud, wouldn't you agree? Guy threw for 4000 yards and won OROY w/o much talent around him. Keep in mind Houston won only 3 games in 2022, just like us.
If he passes again, Fields better absolutely set the league on freakin' fire or Ryan Poles career as a GM is over.
He will never be forgiven for having two #1 picks in a row and still not fixing the QB position.

I would take Odunze at #9. But if he’s gone, I take Turner/Newton. Still need a way to get center in second round, although JABF is satisfied to wait til third round.

Hindsight is 20/20. I never thought Stroud would be this good, this fast. Statistically, his rookie stats are there with Montana and Brady.
It's interesting that you brought up Cutler. There were those who wanted to replace him throughout his stay but the Bears never had a low enough draft pick to even really try. As far as I can tell the only QBs that were better than Cutler while he was here, that the Bears could have actually been in position to draft (absent some crazy trade), was Russel Wilson and Kirk Cousins. Of course they were in the 3rd and 4th rounds and the whole league passed them by several times.
Now we actually can go grab a high level prospect QB and the fans want to stick with a guy who is arguably worse. And if he doesn't work out they act like you can just grab another high level QB prospect whenever. It's just bizarre to me.
Joe Flacco has a career QBR rating 84.2 and a Super Bowl ring.
How is that possible?
They had multiple hall of fame talent on that super bowl team?

Ok here is a question for you. If you have an Aaron Rodgers QB you can draft and own the division for 20 years with one super bowl vs going with a sup bar QB and only winning a Super Bowl because of a super team you created that can last one year. What would you pick?

Sure, if you can GUARANTEE the guy is the next AR. You can’t . By the stats you posted, the failure rate is 30% for QBs drafted #1.

So a 70% success rate is pretty good.
How many Bear QBs have 4k passing yards and 30+ TDs a season?
