I hope they listen to what Waldron wants here. Don't force Fields on him, but rather listen to what the new OC thinks gives the Bears the best chance of success building a solid offense here. Align all the O planets this time. With a D head coach, it's kind of like the Bears have an opportunity to match the new offense, OC and QB1 this time around. And I hope the Bears pull out all of the stops to give the offense everything they can for success. It won't be close to being perfect, but it can be a heck of a lot better than what we have had. It sounds like Waldron's offense had the weak link of a bad offensive line this past year in Seattle. This year put the best OL out there that you reasonably can. Harvest another stud WR in this draft class... it doesn't have to be Marvin Harrison Jr (it won't be if the Bears draft QB1) but get the best WR you can get (this class sounds LOADED with receiver talent). Want an elite QB? Then let's set up the new OC/QB1 with the best chance of success this time around. Player talent matters on offense. Bears have the draft and FA $$$ to seriously upgrade that side of the roster this time around. Just do it.
Brugler says the top 3 centers will be gone before round 3, so it’s going to be important to either get a second round by trading Fields or else trade down the #9 pick, but then you’re not getting a WR at #9. If the top 3 WRs are gone before #9, I’d try to trade down.

I heard that podcast too. We do need a second round pick if we can get one. I still believe there will be a rock solid C in the 3rd round too. But he won't be a guy you want to start at C this year. Maybe get a veteran for this year and play the new guy as a guard this year. Jenkins is often hurt and Nate Davis isn't that good to begin with... so a new guy could get reps and slide over to C in 2025. I don't know if it would be good to have a rookie QB1 and also a rookie C start the same season.

According to Brugler, Powers-Johnson is best of class, but might even go first round. The WR group is supposed to be very deep, so unless Odunze is there at #9, I’m prioritizing center in rounds 2-3 and Turner/Newton #9.

I know. Even with all the trade equity we have, we can't do it all unless we keep Fields and trade down. That is why I keep hoping against hope that we keep him and actually fix him. It takes care of everything that way. WR, DE, C, possibly 3T also. It's the only way to get almost everything we need. But everything has to go right and it usually doesn't
Lots of discussion about keeping Fields or moving on
Found this comment interesting:
"If you had to bet an amount of money you cared about on whether or not Fields, at this point, was going to ever turn in two consecutive seasons with an above-average passing performance by a major metric, would you do it? You got to pick if he stayed in Chicago or went to any quarterback-needy team."
Not sure I'm taking that bet.
Not sure I would take that bet either.
For me, an "above average passing metric", while still a major improvement from here, is NOT enough. I want a legit top-7 QB. I don't want to dick around for the next 8 years like we did with Cutler trying to "fix" the QB. You have the #1 pick and once-a-decade QB prospect is sitting there for the taking.
Might be a different story is we were picking at #20. We aren't.
I maintain Fields ceiling is a mid-tier passer. I have seen nothing that shows me he will be good enough to justify passing on the #1 pick again this draft.
It's interesting that you brought up Cutler. There were those who wanted to replace him throughout his stay but the Bears never had a low enough draft pick to even really try. As far as I can tell the only QBs that were better than Cutler while he was here, that the Bears could have actually been in position to draft (absent some crazy trade), was Russel Wilson and Kirk Cousins. Of course they were in the 3rd and 4th rounds and the whole league passed them by several times.
Now we actually can go grab a high level prospect QB and the fans want to stick with a guy who is arguably worse. And if he doesn't work out they act like you can just grab another high level QB prospect whenever. It's just bizarre to me.

Joe Flacco has a career QBR rating 84.2 and a Super Bowl ring.

How is that possible?
And if the Ravens had a better QB they might have won more. I'm not sure what you're arguing here.

They also had Trent Dilfer.

I think you can see my point.
Yes, Poles actually said that they felt they could win with Fields. Of course, the pull of a first pick for a QB and a new OC completely changes everything. I have no clue what they will do. I know my preference but that has no bearing on reality.

You clearly don't see mine. Those are the exception to the rule. A better QB would likely mean more super bowls. They just didn't have a better choice. You could argue the teams even won in spite of their QB in some cases. Had they an opportunity to upgrade they certainly would have.
