So, I, like all of us, have been thinking about the draft and the Bears direction moving forward. All of us, I think, are convinced one of two things happen in 1) Bears keep Fields and have field day with 2 picks in the first round OR 2) Bears trade Fields and draft Williams or Maye
Now, what if we are blindsided and neither of these happen. Could that end up being the best scenario? What if Poles and crew want to move on from Fields but don't believe that Williams or Maye will be the best NFL QB? What if they want to land Nix or Daniels? What if the draft ends up looking something like this:
Bears trade #1 overall to Atlanta for #8 overall, ATL's 2nd rounder (#48 overall), and ATL's 1st round pick in 2025 (and most likely more, based on previous returns for #1 overall.
Bears take Nix or Daniels with #8 overall Bears take OL, DE, or WR with #9 overall Bears, now with a 2nd round pick (we currently don't have a pick in the 2nd round), take BPA (assuming there is an impactful player available or the 2nd round) or take the best OL, DE, or WR remaining that is NOT the position drafted at #9 overall.
How would you all feel about this? Would you be happy to pass on Williams and Maye for Nix or Daniels? (Personally, I want NOTHING to do with Williams) and at the same time add a 2nd rounder and another 1st for next year? This feels like a move that would have not been out of the question if Jerry Angelo was still here. It seemed like he never took the guy that was the BPA or that everyone expected him to take, whether he was trying to prove he knew more than everyone else or if their scouting indeed always pointed a different direction I think we'll never know.
So, how would you all feel if it went down like this?

I'm reminding myself that as fans we "don't know what we don't know" and the Bears have or will have so much more in-depth info on guys like Caleb and Maye. If one of those two guys are seen as incredible talents then I want the Bears to draft one if they are in fact moving on from Fields. Don't go the "bargain bin" route just to get a QB on the cheap with Nix or Penix or whomever. But on the other hand, if they evaluate one of those other QBs as being "The Guy" in this draft then by all means draft him. I personally like Fields. But I am 100% okay if the Bears truly believe another QB is what is needed. And if they do trade Fields I would assume that we would get a decent trade value for him. But I'm at the point I have no clue as to how this will ultimately go down.

Well, we would be missing on both Harrison and Williams when you trade down that far. It could work, but Poles would have to have a lot of faith in Nix/Daniels. Poles said he’s wide open to everything. Maybe he is.
Some dude at The Athletic has Bears doing this Falcons deal for a bunch of draft picks and drafting at #8 some WR I never heard of who had 658 receiving yards.

You've never heard of Keon Coleman?
I did today. Are you taking him #8 in the first round!

I can also see Atlanta take a run at Fields to bring him home. Not to mention Pace is there and we all know he liked him enough in the draft.
Now that could be a fun wrench to mess round with.
