I see your point.  I just try and factor in that every player is unique.  They develop on different timelines.  The game is so much more complex now at the pro level, that the transition from college ball to the NFL is steeper than ever before.  And even in the past, offensive linemen in particular, needed more development time to reach their full potential.  Nowadays that is so much MORE true.  I have posted many times here that I see the linemen as not being the big/fat guys of the past but rather elite world class athletes engaging if a form of martial arts now - 320 pound men who are SO much more quick and powerful than ever before in the history of the sport.  They engage in more sophisticated techniques than ever before.  And OL are going against defenders and defenses now that are FAR better than anything they faced in college ball.  It is like being in a different world at the NFL level.  They say the OL positions are one of the most difficult positions now to master.  And I 100% believe that.

So I figure the first two years are like we've seen Braxton Jones go through.  Good plays mixed in with bad ones (Brax is the poster boy for this in every game this year).  I think he is going to be a very good LT, but we are not seeing the finished product yet.  Now, when we see veterans like Patrick and Whitehair looking bad - yes, they have no remaining ceiling and are in fact bad players now.  But not the youngsters.  Regarding Wright I am so blown away with is raw speed, quickness (yes foot speed too) and his power - for a rookie.  I think he is All Pro at that RT position for years to come... but not in 2023, and probably not in 2024.  But holy cow the guy is soooooooooooooo special.  He has so much ceiling that those other dudes (like Borderick) simply don't have.  Although Broderick Jones is a very good OL for sure.  He just doesn't have Wright's ceiling.  

We just need to let these youngsters learn their craft and hone their skills (no matter what position they play).  That's just my take on it all.  LOL, not saying I'm right about any of this :-)

Broderick Jones has allowed 3 sacks and 2 penalties in over 700 snaps. He doesn’t have a glaring weakness as far as I can see, and I’ve studied him in a few games.  Wright has 7 sacks, 10 penalties, and allowed more pressures than any rookie tackle starter.  You may be correct that he’s just slower adapting to NFL blocking technique, etc. You are trusting that next year he will leap up the learning curve ahead of all these others.  I need to see it to believe it.  

I'm certainly no expert on this and could be dead wrong.  But I see an young man with elite raw talent.  He is smart, and from all accounts a grinder who puts in the work to improve and not a head case.  I love watching the young man work.  He is rough as hell right now.  But that doesn't mean anything other than he is a green as a gourd rookie battling to learn a ton this first year.  I believe the greatest challenge for fans is to truly try and see where a young player can be (ceiling) rather than look at a rookie, or even a 2nd year player like Braxton Jones - and think they are always going to play like we see right now.  I absolutely love watching Wright work... and B.Jones too for that matter.  Yes, LOL, they do some bonehead things and get beat sometimes but that won't be happening soon enough for both of them.  I just go by what I see... my favorite unit to watch in any NFL game is the offensive line.  Sure, I watch the rest of the team/game too.  But I just enjoy watching these technicians do their work battling in the trenches.  I see Wright in these games as being a special talent... but yes, a work in progress.  And FWIW, I don't compare rookies due to the fact these guys are unique and no two are alike - and their team situations are very different also... OL in particular have (or should have) a synergy with the other 4 guys, especially the guy next to them.  Wright and Brax have both had a lot of change in that "next to them" guy this year and that is not helpful.  But part of the game too... I realize that.  

And if the Bears bring in a rookie center in 2024, prepare yourself for a rough roller coaster year with a rookie C guy.  It won't be pretty at times.  And I can already "hear" the fans saying he is a bust - it's just how us fans are.  We are wrong a lot (certainly I am).
