Don’t bother reading to the article. It is just Biggs ass-kissing Poles.
Instead, go to the comments and look at the facts presented. Since 2021, other GMs are beating his ass in the draft and free agency. Yeah, I know PFF data has no validity. Spare me that argument. Heard it all before.
Hate to break your heart but Poles is not getting fired. Highly unlikely anyway.
Wasn't long ago Packers fans were screaming for Gute's head on a stick. Now, he's their hero. Not hard to see why. MLF is a damn good HC. He's way, way better that Flutsy. And I'll give that organization credit--they know how to develop the passing game and the QBs, TEs, and WRs that make it work. Green Bay has like 5 WRs and 2 TEs currently in year 1 or year 2 who are already showing a lot of promise. And as much as I hate to say it, Jordan Love doesn't suck. He's still got a lot to prove but he looks like a legit potential QB who's certainly coming along enough to warrant another year as their #1. I wish Justin Fields was looking as good as a passer as Love has recently.
The Bears can't match the culture of offense, especially pass offense, that Green Bay has in place. Haven't been able to for decades.
Poles had no FRP in his first draft and was left with an aging, overpaid, underperforming roster when he took over from Pace (a year too late). The only mistake he can be criticized for there was Velus. Otherwise, his draft was damn good considering the capital he had. For those that still have their panties in a wad over Pickens, keep in mind he hasn't been very good lately after a nice rookie season.
In year 2, it's really hard to judge a draft this early with less than a full season in the books. But it is looking good, especially with Dexter and Stevenson coming on strong recently.
I wish the team as a whole were farther along right now too (as I have said we could easily be 6-6 or 7-5 right now with a modicum of good coaching) but I gotta ask--what are the most important factors holding things back right now?
To me, and again hate to say it, its Flutsy and Fields. This coaching staff has been flat out BAD and it is easy to see in comparison to the better coached teams out there who also lack top-tier rosters (Pitt, Green Bay, Denver, Houston, etc).
And Fields...well, I am still waiting for him to step up as a passer. Other than 2 really good games, it has not happened. He has been below Love and way below guys like Stroud and Lawrence. By QBR, he's #23 in the league and the only ones he's ahead of are fails like Mac Jones, Young, Ridder, etc.
If you have to squint to see it, it isn't there. Take last game for instance. We are supposed to be all excited cuz Fields "led a game winning (FG) drive"? He had 220 yards, 0 TDs, and 2 Turnovers.
We need wayyyyyyy better than that. Way better from BOTH the QB and the coaches.

Fields is not having anything to do with the play of all these defensive players Poles brought in: Gordon, Brisker, Pickens, Stevenson, Dexter, Edmunds, etc.
Other than Moore, JJ, and (hopefully) Sweat where are the blue-chip players on this team? Wright has 10 penalties and 7 sacks allowed. Both of the other Jones rookie tackles are outplaying him.
All I hear is that Poles draftees are going to be much better next year. Maybe so. But until it happens, the rookies the Lions and Packers (and others) have brought in 2022 and 2023 are performing better than Poles roster.

PFF says Wright has given up 7 sacks but only 1 QB hit...yeah...I'm good. And there's only ONE person in the comments bashing Poles...and I'm pretty sure it was YOU!!! LMAO!!!

LMAO indeed. Sacks are worse than hits, which is one reason the Jones rookies both have higher PFF grades than Wright. The other reason is that they don’t have nearly as many penalties as Wright.
And I did not write a comment on that article, but I do appreciate the research that person did to compile the data on Poles roster.

Wright is a blue chip prospect. He's a rookie and playing through an injury.
I remember when the conversation was about how much better Kyle Long was over Lane Johnson, because Lane struggled earlier in his career and Kyle went to the Pro Bowl first.
Sometimes, you have to wait to see what you have. But Wright has shown enough to me not worry about him.

As I told JABF, it is theoretically possible that Wright or other draftees will make a big leap in second year. We were all hoping that for Fields.
The problem with Wright is the same as Jenkins. His feet are not quite quick enough to handle good speed rushers. He is too big and strong to get bull rushed. Watch him against Packers. Gary will whip his ass around the corner. Unfortunately, we will see it twice a year.

Gordon, Brisker, and Stevenson are all starters. Dexter and Pickens are finally pushing for more reps over Jones and I think Flus is partly to blame for delaying that move. Edmunds I haven't been a huge fan of so far but Edwards has been lights out.
If you had a point there, you failed to make it.
Yes, need more blue chip players no question. We have only had 1 FRP pick to work with so far in the Poles era. Coming Soon
I repeat, the reason(s) the Bears are 4-8 instead of 7-5 or 6-6 are A) their coaching staff blows chunks and B) Fields remains disapppinting as a passer. At least inconsistently impressive anyway. Whether its the QB or the coaches or most likely both, these guys haven't "taken the next step" as we all hoped back in August.
