I worry about anyone the Bears hire. What competent football person would want to work at Halas Hall (other than Harbaugh)?
Reason #57 to hire Harbaugh. He actually wants to be here.
Every other candidate already in the NFL would take the job sure but let's face it--it's widely known this is a shit franchise. It isn't exactly the Cowboys or Steelers. You know...organizations that actually win a lot of games and are consistently above average.
We aren't likely to get the pick of the litter, are we?
I would think he would get the opinion of his GM and seek to understand why his GM feels the way they do and then work towards a path forward. Any decision that is made should be agreed on by the both of them because if not...there is no real point in having a GM. Obviously if Warren is dead set against keeping Flus and Poles is dead set on keeping him, there will be a disconnect. But just firing people because there's a disconnect on one issue is pretty stupid and bad leadership IMO.
Hopefully there is no problem here between CEO and GM. I'll bet they'll be together on the call to keep or fire coaches. And of course any good executive level supervisor (in any business, not just a sports franchise) needs to work with his management staff, with a shared vision and teamwork. I think everyone agrees with that. But it is not unreasonable for Warren to move on from a manager he did not hire, if (big if here) if Poles does not share his vision for how to achieve fixing this franchise. I get what you are saying about firing people over one disconnect on one issue... but surely an issue as critically important as the head coach of an NFL team is on a higher level than just about any other issue. If Warren believes the HC is not the guy, and Poles does - that's unfortunate. I hope those two can work together with a shared vision for the team. But if they can't work together then Warren needs to bring in his own guy - who shares his vision and who buys into his plan for achieving it.

It depends. If you think the guy right below you is very incompetent in his evaluations of coaches and players, you’re going to have a problem going forward. You don’t want to just hire a “yes man”, but you do want a capable executive who’s not going to repeatedly make poor recommendations on major decisions. There are several major decisions pending over next 6 months.
If you think the person below you is "very incompetent" there shouldn't be any issues because that person should no longer be there. Either way, I think Poles has proven he's not incompetent.

We disagree on Poles, but I digress….
Poles isn't incompetent. No idea where that came from.
In fact, if not for the Glus hire, his first 2 years would be looking really good right now. This should be a 7-5 team right now. 6-6 at worst IMO.
And I'm nauseated by thought that there's a chance Flus/Getsy could come back. They should have been fired weeks ago. There should be zero doubt whatsoever that the coaching staff will be new next season.

NONE
If Flus/Getsy come back, you should give some credit to your boy.

You would. There is ZERO proof that Poles is incompetent. If you can't admit that Poles did a good job orchestrating the tear down and has set this franchise on a path of future success with cap and draft resources as well as some good players to build around...well...thats certainly a you issue.

As I have said before, a trained chimp can tank the franchise for cap and draft picks.

I don't think they are coming back. Now that I've learned Warren is really in charge and not a figurehead.
But it's ridiculous that they are still employed today. I saw what ownership did in January of 2021. They must be really good at "collaboration".
