What does any of this mean? Does he override Poles on keeping Eberflus and/or Fields or does he defer to Poles? We don’t know the relationship between them. But if he overrides Poles, that sets up friction between them going forward. I hope he gets rid of both Poles and Eberflus and brings in Harbaugh.

I'm thinking it means that he is the hands-on "football guy" that Bears fans have opined about for decades here. In the past we had beancounter Ted Phillips as President of the organization - so it was basically the McCaskeys and whomever was the GM at the time. It was a disaster GM after GM. HC after HC.
Kevin Warren sure appears to be a nuts-and-bolts hands-on CEO who will make the tough decisions needed to make the team successful. He seems to love a challenge and the Bears provide him with a whopper of one. I have zero doubt that he will fire Poles in a heartbeat if Poles insists on doing something counter to what is best for the team's success. To answer your question, I believe that if Poles "insists" on keeping Eberflus and/or Fields - and Warren believes this is a bad move for the franchise - then Poles will be cleaning out his office and quickly gone.
And hey, we may see that he decides he wants to keep the present GM and HC. I'm not saying he will or won't fire one or both of them. But he won't allow Poles to continue if he believes he's not the GM to get the job done here.
If we wanted another milk toast dude like Ted Phillips, well, I don't think we got that kind of guy now. We wanted a hands on "football guy" and a strong leader - instead of the McCaskeys/Phillips based model. It's happened. Strap in because I think we are in for quite a ride with KW now. I just hope that he is up to the job of fixing decades of failure/dysfunction here. Only time will tell. But he is our only hope for ever getting the franchise fixed.

My point is that we don’t yet have any real evidence of his management style. It might be as you describe. I don’t know. For example, he might be what I call a “consensus builder”. He may hesitate on big decisions without McCaskey or Poles (or both) signing on with the move. It’s an “we are all in this together “ pact in case the move turns out badly. I have seen guys with this mentality, and you may have, too.

+1 You're right we don't know his management style. We will just have to wait to see it unfold. I'm just going to hope he has the skills to get the franchise on track.
I worry about anyone the Bears hire. What competent football person would want to work at Halas Hall (other than Harbaugh)?
Mats, I could be very wrong about this, but it sure appears that Kevin Warren is a guy who thrives on challenges. I've not met many in my life, but I have been around a few people like this. They feed on big challenges and it seems to be something they thrive doing. They derive some kind of energy in their life by tackling big things. Kevin Warren really looks like that kind of guy. If he COULD turn the franchise around it would be quite a lifetime achievement (and he'd also be a hero in Chicago until the day he died - and long afterwards for that matter).
I think he is totally stoked with this challenge. LOL, maybe he has a screw loose in his head for wanting to come here. But I do believe this is how he is wired. I just hope he's up to the task. It could go either way... he could fail, but don't you think the franchise is long overdue for some good luck? Man, I think we're decades overdue :-)

I would think he would get the opinion of his GM and seek to understand why his GM feels the way they do and then work towards a path forward. Any decision that is made should be agreed on by the both of them because if not...there is no real point in having a GM. Obviously if Warren is dead set against keeping Flus and Poles is dead set on keeping him, there will be a disconnect. But just firing people because there's a disconnect on one issue is pretty stupid and bad leadership IMO.

It depends. If you think the guy right below you is very incompetent in his evaluations of coaches and players, you’re going to have a problem going forward. You don’t want to just hire a “yes man”, but you do want a capable executive who’s not going to repeatedly make poor recommendations on major decisions. There are several major decisions pending over next 6 months.

Hopefully there is no problem here between CEO and GM. I'll bet they'll be together on the call to keep or fire coaches. And of course any good executive level supervisor (in any business, not just a sports franchise) needs to work with his management staff, with a shared vision and teamwork. I think everyone agrees with that. But it is not unreasonable for Warren to move on from a manager he did not hire, if (big if here) if Poles does not share his vision for how to achieve fixing this franchise. I get what you are saying about firing people over one disconnect on one issue... but surely an issue as critically important as the head coach of an NFL team is on a higher level than just about any other issue. If Warren believes the HC is not the guy, and Poles does - that's unfortunate. I hope those two can work together with a shared vision for the team. But if they can't work together then Warren needs to bring in his own guy - who shares his vision and who buys into his plan for achieving it.
