In a perfect world, I’m taking Anderson/Carter, but after Anderson went off the board and Poles announced he didn’t want Carter and did the Eagles trade, I said I wanted JSN in first round and a right tackle in the second round. If that happened and Getsy implemented the offense that butkus and I are talking about, we’d have a more productive offense.
Bears could have drafted Dawand Jones at right tackle in second round instead of Stevenson/Dexter. He is better than Wright in pass protection but not run blocking.
I liked JSN a lot too. But Marvin Harrison Jr would sure look good in a Bears uniform. Of the two I think I'd rather have Harrison Jr than JSN.
Harrison wasn’t on the board. I take JSN in 2023 and Harrison in 2024.
JSN was a mid-low 1st rounder in a weak WR class while MHJ is a top-5 pick in a strong one.
That’s not the point. I would replace Mooney with JSN and Claypool (or whatever) with Harrison.
The Bears needed a T more than a WR in that draft. They got (arguably) the best offensive lineman in the entire draft class in Wright. I'm not saying it wouldn't have been great to have JSN here. I would have loved that. But we needed an elite tackle more than JSN. We may even need to do the same thing in this next draft class (first round tackle) if Braxton Jones (like Fields) doesn't showcase he's the guy. It could be that Brax ends up being our swing tackle (Borom is bad). But my hope is that Fields and Brax both prove to be solid enough that we can draft a guy like Harrison. It sounds like this is a fantastic draft class for WRs. It wasn't very good in 2023.
