What should happen if Fields lights it up these 7 games?

I agree completely and have posted similar stuff here for years.  This is independent of Fields.

I get that any QB needs a certain amount of "support".  I get that the more talent he has around him on the offensive side of the ball, the more his job becomes easier.  

However, I feel like that often devolves into excuse-making after a period of time.  Andrew Luck played behind shit OLs for years.  Stroud is lighting up the league right now on a team that has no more talent than the Bears.  

The type of QB any team is seeking is one who elevates the whole team.  If the guy needs 4 pro-bowlers on the OL and 3 stud WRs/TEs catching the ball, then he's not the guy.  

Specifically with JF1, forget year 1 as Nagy was an idiot and gave him no 1st team reps in PS.
I'll give him a pass for 2022 too.  His OL was shaky and his WRs were garbage.

Excuse time is over in 2023 IMO.  

I wanna see what he can do these last 7 games.  The OL looks healthy and improved.  He's got an elite receiving weapon and 2 others that are solid along with an excellent running back room.  

There's no more excuses for games in which he goes 11/21 for 103 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.

We need to see better.  Way better.

Some Fields stats I found interesting...there isn't another starting QB in the league with fewer "poor passes" than him: 25 so far this season, Russel Wilson next closest with 31. Fields has thrown for more TD's than Lamar Jackson, Derek Carr, and Trevor Lawerence to name a few so far this season...and thats without playing these last 4 weeks. I wonder is Jacksonville fans are out on Lawerence, especially considering the weapons he has at his disposal.

I guess I'm just wondering what exactly the expectations are for Fields from some of you? All Pro play? When you run through the remaining schedule, what would each game have to look like...specifically?

I will be looking for games that look more like the Denver and Washington games.  His YPA averaged almost double of his other games (9.6 & 9.7 respectively).  He averaged over 308 yards per game in those two games verses the 99 yards in the KC game and 58 yards in the game he got hurt (Vikings).  I don't expect him to average that 300YPG figure but I would expect him to not be ridiculously low either (sub-100 yard games no way).  He was averaging over 1 fumble a game before he got hurt.  I will be watching to see if he can protect the ball better than that in these 7 remaining games.  In the games other than those 2 good ones against Denver and Washington, he had as many (or more) ints than TDs in those four games.  I don't mind him having some ints... that's going to happen.  But I will be looking for more TDs than interceptions.  His TTT (average time to throw) time for the season is 3.23 seconds... he is consistently bad there game after game after game.  I will be watching to see if he can drop that down.  For some reasonable comps I looked up a number of the other QBs this season.  Not the great QBs but average, and even bad QBs.  Mack Jones is 2.4 TTT.  Brock Purdy is at 2.59 seconds.  Jared Goff is at 2.55 seconds.  Tua is at 2.3.  Stroud 2.8.  Even the Jets Zack Wison is under 3 seconds TTT.  

Justin Fields hasn't even sniffed under 3 seconds in any game he has played in this season.  I will be looking for him to get that TTT under 3 seconds... and really I would expect that in EVERY game.  He's GOT to stop the dropping back and patting the ball like he has all day to make up his mind as to what to do with the ball.  No NFL QB gets a lot of time, even the ones playing behind the best OL's.  He has to get the ball out quicker.

Finally, I will be watching to see if he can play more like the Denver and Washington games where he just looked more confident and loose - fluid and decisive.  In the other games he just looked so "tight" and mechanical to me.  Like he was maybe trying too hard (Trubisky looked that way too in his latter years here).  Maybe it's just being afraid of screwing up... I don't have a clue but it is pretty easy to see when you watch him play.  But he did look like a different player (in a good way) against Denver and Washington.  I will be watching to see if he can play loose like that in these remaining games.  More like that anyway.

I really don't care about the wins this year.  I really don't.  But I would just like to see Fields consistently play improved ball over those games he looked so bad in (last year and this year).  Every QB can have a bad game.  But I will be watching to see if he has mostly good games.  The crazy thing is.  If he does play consistently good the team WILL win more games than not.  Anyway, maybe I'm a meatball but I will be watching to see the things I mentioned above... at least for him to do better in those areas.  Not perfect, but better.  Consistently.

BTW, I have been reading and seeing a lot of stuff that says it really doesn't matter that much what Fields does in the last 7 games, barring being extremely bad or extremely amazing.

That line of thinking goes like this:
If Bears end up with a top-2 pick, Poles is moving on almost no matter what.  He will trade Fields and take the opportunity to reset the rookie QB contract clock.
If Bears do not end up with a top-2 pick, Fields will be the starting QB here next year.

Feel free to agree or disagree but that doesn't seem far-fetched to me.
