So, I just checked the preseason Las Vegas over/under odds on Bears total wins in 2023. It is 7.5 wins. That’s not tanking. This team has underperformed most people’s predictions. You can’t possibly know that Poles is not one of those people. I know that I was. JABF did a poll preseason and I predicted 7-10, expecting Fields would break through this year. Did you participate in that poll?
Yes b/c what Vegas does it look at teams and say this is what they'll win, so we'll start the betting there. It has nothing to do w/how the betters are expected to bet at all; said no Vegas odds maker ever.
Do you know how Vegas does odds? You ever heard from a bookie? They take into account what they THINK betters are going to bet, and set the odds accordingly so that they've got the best odds to win and NOT pay out. At no time does Vegas care or even try and determine how good a team is; it's 2ndry to what they are trying to do. What do the betters think, and how do we split them in such a way as to maximize the gains, and limit the potential loss.
WTF do I care what you or even Vegas thinks anyways. Again you can look at this roster, how it was set up, and say w/out even a slight hesitation they weren't winning. btw, 7-10 is a losing record, it's not a good record, even if it was 6-9 before the added game, that was seen as a bad record, a losing record, a bad team. So what you are telling me is that Poles said they were going to try and win and compete, and you didn't even buy it, but now you are surprised it didn't?
You just trolling around here; the fuk? We are in fact in agreement, we both thought they were going to lose their asses this year. Congrats, conversation over glad we came to an understanding. There are politicians that could learn to bend and twist like you.
As you say, the odds are aimed at what the odds makers are expecting from the public. The public was expecting 7-8 wins, and that’s about what I thought. It’s not a winning season, but it’s not tanking, either. If he wanted to tank again, he could have had even more cap space this year by trading/cutting Jackson and Whitehair. He could have even traded Jaylon Johnson for a draft pick. He is TRYING to win more games THIS year.

Here is an interesting YT video comparing our rebuild with Detroit's. Not saying I agree with the author's content. Just posting it as it gives a different perspective to Poles, Eberflus, etc.

Poles had the equivalent of two first round picks this year with Wright and Moore. In fact, Moore is playing better than any of these rookies despite the Bears poor record.
Besides, there’s more to the draft than the first round. Poles has not been successful outside the first round with one or two exceptions. With all the trades/cuts he did, including some good players, he needs some hits in lower rounds to have any chance of filling all the roster holes he created.
Poles is also a failure in trades and free agents. By contrast, 10 of the LIONS first team starters were not drafted by the LIONS.

You cannot judge drafts after 1 or 1 1/2 years. You should know that. Therefore you cannot make the statement honestly.

Not the public, the betters. The betters don't know shit, and aren't GM's, HC's, NFL analysts etc. They definitely aren't Poles, so none of it matters.
But remember, you didn't actually expect them to compete, so you are in fact lying in your outrage. You knew as well as anyone else that they weren't winning this year.

Huh? Illogical. I didn’t expect the Bears would be good this year, and I mostly blame Poles for that. He built this TRASH ROSTER (as you call it), and now he — and we — have to live with it.

What I can judge is that the players he drafted in 2022 haven’t shown much progress in 2023. That’s a major reason why the Bears still suck,

See we agree, you just think it was on accident. It wasn't.
No you cannot properly judge a drafted player until after year 3. Especially not you.
