I don’t want to hear any more excuses about “young, inexperienced, need more time to develop, etc” You are correct that —with the exceptions noted— there still isn’t much talent on this team. The Lions, Jags, and Seahawks have same average age of players as the Bears. The real difference is that they have all added better football players over the two years since Poles started.
Dont care what you want to hear, it's a valid argument. You aren't the GM, you aren't the HC, you have no say in anything pro sport related. What you want is as irrelevant as what I want. I didn't want Poles as the GM after he hired Flus, guess what, they are both still here, and there is a chance, no matter how large or small, that both are still here next year. There is a legit case on both side for why, regardless of your feelings or wants.
Of course, we are all powerless to get what we want.
The standard defense of Poles/Eberflus around here is that the players are young/inexperienced/need more time. That argument doesn’t explain why LIONS, Seahawks, Jags all had W-L records comparable to the Bears in 2021 (LIONS actually 3-13-1) have all built rosters better than Poles/Eberflus with players same average age as the Bears in 2023. They are all contending for playoffs, while Bears still suck as bad in 2023 as 2022.

I'm one of the few defending either. and those aren't in there. But they are young, the problem is the vets on the team aren't good. That's the difference between the Lions Seahawks etc and the Bears.
The other reason that you are purposefully trying to ignore b/c your narrative is more important then reality, Poles DID NOT WANT TO WIN. He wanted to those 1st round picks to be high to increase his shot at getting 2 high quality players the team needed, be it qb, WR, DT, DE, CB whatever.
You are trying to compare teams that aren't doing the same thing. Stop it, you aren't stupid you know the real reason so stop acting like it wasn't purposeful and just the act of incompetence.

True for 2022 but not 2023. This was supposed to be year that we start to see some significant improvement in team performance. We haven’t seen much improvement in Fields. That’s part of it. But we also hoped some of the players he hired in 2022 would show development in 2023. We haven’t seen much of that, either. Claypool and V. Jones head a long list. Aside from Moore and Wright, none of the players he brought in 2023 have accomplished much, either. He hasn’t been good in drafting. He hasn’t been good in trades. He hasn’t been good in free agency. Three strikes and you’re out.

No. 100% false.
You could not seriously look at this roster and think they were supposed to start winning. If you did, then your eyes, your pff and your stats failed miserably. I took the entire offseason off b/c you could tell before OTA's they weren't trying to win. That this roster was meant to suck.

Well then, Poles was lying when he said the goal is to win games this year. He also said the “rebuild” is 75-80% DONE. That’s a quote. He didn’t go into this season with the goal to compete for the #1 draft pick again.

Did you expect him to be honest? You aren't allowed to purposefully tank in the NFL and be open about it.

In an interview with The Athletic, he said the Bears should be competitive for the NFC North title in 2023. You say he’s lying. I say he’s self-delusional in that he WAY overestimates the quality of these players he brought in. Of course, neither of us can read his mind. We’re speculating.

David, the NFL does not ALLOW teams to tank, they are not allowed to be purposefully bad. Poles lied, it was an obvious lie and one that you are purposefully holding him to knowing full well it was never going to happen.
Stop. It was as easy as looking at this roster to know they wouldn't win, that it was never built to win, that it was never going to win. If you honestly didn't realize that, the fault is yours not Poles or Flus.

So, I just checked the preseason Las Vegas over/under odds on Bears total wins in 2023. It is 7.5 wins. That’s not tanking. This team has underperformed most people’s predictions. You can’t possibly know that Poles is not one of those people. I know that I was. JABF did a poll preseason and I predicted 7-10, expecting Fields would break through this year. Did you participate in that poll?

Yes b/c what Vegas does it look at teams and say this is what they'll win, so we'll start the betting there. It has nothing to do w/how the betters are expected to bet at all; said no Vegas odds maker ever.
Do you know how Vegas does odds? You ever heard from a bookie? They take into account what they THINK betters are going to bet, and set the odds accordingly so that they've got the best odds to win and NOT pay out. At no time does Vegas care or even try and determine how good a team is; it's 2ndry to what they are trying to do. What do the betters think, and how do we split them in such a way as to maximize the gains, and limit the potential loss.
WTF do I care what you or even Vegas thinks anyways. Again you can look at this roster, how it was set up, and say w/out even a slight hesitation they weren't winning. btw, 7-10 is a losing record, it's not a good record, even if it was 6-9 before the added game, that was seen as a bad record, a losing record, a bad team. So what you are telling me is that Poles said they were going to try and win and compete, and you didn't even buy it, but now you are surprised it didn't?
You just trolling around here; the fuk? We are in fact in agreement, we both thought they were going to lose their asses this year. Congrats, conversation over glad we came to an understanding. There are politicians that could learn to bend and twist like you.
