Sounds like Eberflus is going to get another year if this is true.
LINK Bears Insider Drops Bombshell About Matt Eberflus' Future In Chicago "It’s easy to forget the Bears are the third-youngest roster in the NFL. They’re giving a lot of inexperienced players significant snaps. Everybody knew this would be a rebuild. Ryan Poles tore the roster down deliberately, intending to construct it via the draft. Doing something like that has consequences. It often means a couple of years of bad football."
I can kind of understand why - Poles tore it down, and we're rebuilding from zero. Not a lot for the coach to work with so we can't judge him yet.
However, I call BS. We CAN judge Flustered. mismanaging time, games, gameplans, players, etc etc etc. this quote from that link says it all:
After 26 games at the helm, the man is 5-21. That is by far the worst record any Bears head coach has produced in the same span of games. Chicago is 1-9 in one-score games and tied for first in penalties. Just for good measure, they’re also second in the league in giveaways. Everything about this team’s operation is bad. Nothing stands out as justification for keeping Eberflus beyond the 2023 season.
There is zero reason to keep Flustered another season. We have ALL seen enough. Flush him, flush him now.
I am glad he put the Poles quote about Eberflus into the article . Poles sincerely loves Eberflus. No way in hell he’s ever going to fire him. The problem with most of the players Poles has brought in is not that they are young and inexperienced. It is just that they aren’t very good football players. Don Shula might make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear, but Eberflus is no Don Shula. When the time comes, it will be up to Warren to fire both of them.
Go away Whiskey man. We all have equal rights to express opinions here.

I have a strange feeling about this too. Those two are best buddies for sure. If Poles refuses to let go of him this offseason then he needs to be let go as well.
Been saying it for awhile now that people have been calling for his firing. If he's fired for the record, that's a BS scape goat firing, this roster, is trash. Wright, Moore, Edmunds(b/c he has been in the past), Sweat and JJohnson are playoff caliber players. That's it.
Mooney is a bench player on a playoff O. Kmet is the 2nd TE at best on a playoff O. Fields has shown he's not the future, and Bagent likely isn't either. Maybe Jones if he comes back and plays like last year is, but he's been injured so no way to know. Jenkins is, if he can stay healthy, but he's not shown he can do that. It wasn't just Claypool that was f'n up the route's/plays. Kmet and Mooney have had their fair share this season also, and Mooney still is. VJJ is a legit option to be on the field on this team, not sure he'll make another roster when he's eventually cut from Chicago. This roster is T.R.A.S.H. "10 players away from 10 players away from a good roster", dude didn't say great roster, not a playoff roster, a GOOD roster. This is NOT a winning team, and it's not just b/c of the coaches. Someone yesterday brought up Fangio's quote, something along the lines of it's more about the Joe's then the X's and O's. This team has more Janes than Joe's.
This is exactly what Poles wanted, he didn't want to win, he wanted a complete tear down and a complete rebuild from the ground up. You cannot hold the record of a HC against him when the GM never gave him the players to win.
That said, if he is fired b/c he's lost the team, doesn't appear he has to this point, or b/c you look at his inability to properly function w/in the game, ex poor usage of timeouts, or you don't think you've seen enough growth out of the young players fine. If the firing is b/c his staff had 2 HR interventions that led to firings I get it. There are legitimate reasons for firing him, but just like the GM, he is a young HC, and if he feels he's shown enough growth and the young players are showing it also then you let him stay.
Reasons for keeping him and firing him are plenty on either side. Really just matters what Poles and Warren want.

I don’t want to hear any more excuses about “young, inexperienced, need more time to develop, etc” You are correct that —with the exceptions noted— there still isn’t much talent on this team. The Lions, Jags, and Seahawks have same average age of players as the Bears. The real difference is that they have all added better football players over the two years since Poles started.

Dont care what you want to hear, it's a valid argument. You aren't the GM, you aren't the HC, you have no say in anything pro sport related. What you want is as irrelevant as what I want. I didn't want Poles as the GM after he hired Flus, guess what, they are both still here, and there is a chance, no matter how large or small, that both are still here next year. There is a legit case on both side for why, regardless of your feelings or wants.
