I’m speaking of this year as we all decided that this was the year where we have to know what Fields is before writing a check. So far, not enough for me but assuming he gets back on the field he can still give us enough to go one.
I'll go even further.
I can't see Fields "getting paid" this offseason no matter what he does in the last 8 games. No way. I can possibly see him doing enough to get the 5th year option and keep the job for 2024. He would have to play 6 very good games out of 8 though to get there IMO. Otherwise, I think Poles will move on. He didn't draft him.
Fields, no doubt, is part of the problem and combined with this coaching staff we have a crap fest of a team. I don’t see where I misspoke. Fields takes too long to process the field and get the ball out. Agree or disagree? Fields can light it up and fumble and tosses a bad interception costing us a game? Just happened before he was hurt. How many games has he brought the team back and won in the last 5 minutes? How about in the 4th quarter? I’m not seeing the growth at this time to write him a check. He, in my opinion, has to show he’s worth it.
I never said he wasn't part of the problem or free of blame. What I am saying is he's been held back by this team more than this team is being held back by him. You cannot, with a serious face at least, argue against that.
I wouldn’t nor would I go much further with him as qb1 unless he can show he’s worth it.
