JABF wants Fields and Brax under a microscope the last 9 games. I add Stevenson to his list. CB is a critically important position.
And I'm just wanting to see if they can improve over these 9 games. I'm sure hoping so. Even if Fields is traded at the end of the season, it is still to our advantage for him to have improve. And if Braxton Jones can prove himself to be a solid LT then that is huge for us moving forward. To be honest I don't watch our defense very closely so I don't know much about Stevenson. I should. I just focus more on the offense (especially the offensive line).
Didn't you say he is like rookie of the year and one of the reasons why once again Poles refused to upgrade to a better LT in FA?

Just another reason Poles needs to go.
No. Where did you get that? He was on the 2022 All-Rookie team. But I never heard about ROY. Regardless. Rookies are rookies. They are projects (Wright is a good example of that). I don't think you fire GMs for drafting rookies, right?

Correct, but I do expect improvements from the team in year 2 compared to year one.. Every FA hire seems to be a bad pickup. Majority of his rookies are pretty bad. Wright was a good signing. Always said he was. When you had Orlando Brown in FA and didn't even attempt to get him. I rather overpay him then pick up two ILB and overpay that position.
Only really having one good WR to throw the ball too which we got lucky to get with DJ Moore. MHJR is a must have do to how poorly Poles drafted the past two years at WR. Could of used that extra top 10 pick for a tackle or a pass rusher. So many holes on this team. You truthfully need another 2 years to even be competitive.

+1 Yeah, it's a deep hole the team is in. I'm thinking that Warren will probably clean house when the season is over with - maybe even Poles gets the ax too. I just want to see the last 9 games to get personal closure... I just want to watch it all and then make up my own mind.

+1 about expected improvement in this 2nd year. A lot of mistakes have been made. And I also agree that it's going to be a couple of years to get this mess fixed - and that's assuming they can get the right people hired who CAN fix it. The Eberflus hire was a killer mistake.

If we end up with two top 5 picks. I don't want Poles to trade down. We're going to need a new QB no matter what. We also need to pick up Marvin Harrison Jr. Even if we have a #1 and #3 overall pick. I want Marvin Harrison Jr. first. You can be Tom Brady out there but if you have no one to throw the ball too. It doesn't matter in the end. DJ Moore is the only WR imo who is a starter on this team. We have no true starting TE.
We have to get a QB which sucks cause that other first round pick would go towards another position that could help out.

I'm wondering if we need a 1st round QB though. I think MHJ is a no brainer 1st pick. Is there that much of a difference from Williams, Maye then the others who could be had later? Doesn't seem so.

Yeah this has been the most deflating and disappointing season for me in a long while.
2019 went south too but at least the defense was still good.
Right now, nothing is good outside of maybe the running backs.
Getting back to Flus, it's all the more infuriating when you recall he was basically hired by a committee and most of the members of that committee aren't even at HH anymore. Hoge reminded me of that on a recent podcast.
I sometimes think George likes candidates because they're "nice guys" and doesn't go deeper than that. It's really obvious at this point that Flus is in way over his head and Getsy & Fields are completely mismatched to one another like oil & water. It's a freakin' mess.
