It will certainly be interesting b/c Mack isn't going to allow the team the time to develop longer routes, and no doubt the LB's and DB's will be closer in. We'll have to see if Bagent can continue to pre read what the def is set in, and if the play call has a way to beat it. Thats what he did w/the Raiders so well.
Whoever lines up opposite Borom is gonna throw him around like a rag doll.
I read that Brax is in practice and might play this week.
Regarding Brax, Borom and Wright, I notice that a LOT of tackles leave their stance a heartbeat early. Like every play. Even some of the league's best tackles do this and get away with it. But then some don't get away with it. Most of the flags on our guys seem to NOT be false starting but rather doing the same thing... just having a hair-trigger of like a split fraction of a second coming out of stance to beat the D guy.
Gotta admit the officiating seems to be so arbitrary. Some get the calls. Others don't. Ours usually get flagged doing the exact same stuff I see other tackles in the league getting away with. I get it. Having that split second advantage helps block these elite edge guys.
You would expect Chargers to put 8 up on the LOS to both contain the run (they suck at defending the run) and take away short throws for Bagent. It will be interesting to see if he can make some key intermediate and even deep throws to counter.
Will also be interesting to see if Getsy knows how to call that. Based on what we saw week1 and week6, I'm not confident Getsy can do it or will anticipate the adjustments LAC are likely to make. I could see the Bears O once again looking totally unprepared to start the game as my faith in Getsy thinking 2 steps ahead is LOW.
I have zero faith that Getsy will make any changes from last weeks game plan. Zero.

Players and teams are beginning to actively plan for and game the refs. Its not just NFL but other sports as well. Some teams have been doing it for sometime. BB Pats used to mug the Colts WRs all the way downfield until Manning/Dungy/Irsey complained about the rules not being enforced. Once it was enforced, the Colts began to hang with the Pats. Legion of Boom realized that refs were relucent to call repeated PI, holding, and illegal contact penalties and used that to mess with WRs all the time. The one or two flags a game were balanced out by timid reffing. RTs/LTs now realize that leaving a split second before the snap won't get flagged repeatedly because the league wants QBs protected and wants OFF. One reffing crew asked why they didn't call RTs/LTs leaving early said "We only flag serious penalties not small ones." QBs realize that 0:00 on the play clock doesn't really mean anything because refs are instructed to use mechanics that enable several seconds at 0:00 before flagging the play. What we will see more of happened on Sun night I believe when a DT waited until the clock hit 0:00 and then jumped into the center. When the ref ran over the DT pointed at the play clock and got the delay of game call. If I were a DC I'd instruct my DT to start doing that every time the play clock hit 0:00. Ref can't flag for netural zone infraction because the play is officially dead at 0:00.
It would be simple to stop. Flag every RT/LT who left early, even if it were 4-5 flags in a row. But the league can't deal with the distain and mocking they would get and have instructed the refs accordingly.

Regardless of the Bears QB situation next season, I want Getsy GONE.

Yeah gonna be an interesting case study into what the OC can/cannot do and what the QB can/cannot do.

That's exactly what I am afraid of. For some reason, I can tolerate Flus but Getsy pisses me off.
Thats the price you pay for getting the ball out quick sometimes. You're not always gonna be in the optimal position. Plus he was able to get away with a lot at the D2 level...he's gonna have to learn some things.
I understand that, and I'm not trying to be hyper-critical at all. Mahomes does the same thing at times and obviously he's a great quarterback. I figure he's a smart guy who seems highly motivated to work hard to improve. So I have no doubt he will improve with time and experience too. But I would expect that as he refines his mechanics and delivery of the ball, we will see him throw with better power/velocity. This is a guy just beginning his NFL journey. Mechanics can be improved. But the mental gears are not as easy to improve. He seems to have been blessed with being able to process the game quickly. While the game can slow down for guys as they become more comfortable with the NFL game, I figure that every player has a mental processor that is a limiting factor at some point and it varies from player to player. Bagent seems to have the God-given mental CPU to process the game well.
I hope Bagent has a good game on Sunday. I'm just trying to keep my own expectations from getting too high, too fast with him. If he makes mistakes and struggles it won't mean he's a bum. It will just mean he's a rookie with a learning curve to climb. And if he's great on Sunday, well, that's fantastic. If that run game is stout and the defense is solid, then that will surely help him have another good game.
Yeah, I'm keeping my expectations and views in check. He had a 2.6 yard ADOT...he literally did not throw the ball down the field at all. Thats not gonna cut it in a game where the running game isn't working and the other team has a functioning offense.
To your last point...complementary football sure does help. When the defense is good it helps the offense. Be nice to have that when Fields comes back. By the way...maybe the Vikings weren't as bad as we thought...eh?
