I don't think he's a better qb then those no. I want my RB, my WR and my DB's and LB's to be more athletically gifted. I want my qb's to be more gifted at being a qb, which means processing the field, reading the def prior to the snap, and then throwing the ball to the right person w/out having to hold onto the ball all day.
The fact that you cannot mention anything qb related, and just "athletically gifted" says it all. You couldn't say he threw the ball better, you couldn't say he read the field better, you couldn't say he had a quicker release or got the ball out quicker.
Fields has plenty of athletic ability, but none that actually pertain to playing QB in the NFL.
Actually you COULD say all those things except the "get the ball out quicker" part...and I'm not so sure about that one...I'm not sure how many games of Josh Rosen you've watched, but I haven't watched enough to know if he gets the ball out quickly or not.
Well, you'll have to search YouTube cuz Rosen busted out of the league before anyone knew he even in it LOL.
I saw some of his games as he was drafted by the Cards here. I even went to one here. He was beyond awful.
David, I'd love to see it and that's easily the best case scenario. Cuz getting MHJr with a new QB in the 1st round would be freakin ideal.
It's disappointing he's been hurt so we can't see and evaluate Brax more. Hope he's back soon.
I want to see him back the last 6 games and face a couple good bull bull rushers!
Yeah, I feel the same way. Let's see what we have in Brax this year. My gut feeling is that he can be a very very solid LT. But we need to definitively see that this season. If he doesn't cut it here then we need to aggressively go after a LT in FA next year. That will be expensive but they do come available from time to time if you're willing to pay top dollar for one. I actually believe a top-tier LT is easier to find in the FA than an elite center (elite, not a JAG). And my hope (dream) is to see the Bears anchor that interior OL with an elite center like some of the great Bears centers of the past.
LT's sometimes are allowed to walk. Elite centers seem to get re-signed by their teams. We're talking about elite centers and not JAGs. Elite. I do hope we draft a C with our 2nd round pick. There will be 3 top-tier guys in this coming draft that will go in that 2nd round. Let's get one.
If we decide to draft a LT this coming year, well, that means no Harrison at WR. That would be pretty sad. I know conventional wisdom would be LT > WR in the draft. I get that. But I am so coveting Harrison in this draft. It's kind of like rationalizing a fancy car that you don't really HAVE to have, but you really really want to have :-) ... but if Brax can prove (truly definitively prove) he can be a solid LT then that gives the green light to Harrison. At least that's my dream for now.

If you project Harrison as the next Justin Jefferson, he has more value than any LT on the planet. If Poles goes 2 years in a row passing on a future Hall of Fame generational talent, he should be shot at sunrise.
I honestly feel that Brax ceiling is Pro Bowl and his floor is good LT who will lose sometimes to excellent bull rushers. I can live with that.

I've been resisting the temptation to get into much FA or draft talk cuz the damn offseason is so interminably long that I'm ready to vomit at the thought of reading another mock draft by the time April 1st rolls around. I try to put it off as long as possible but this season is such a wasteland of forlorn hope, there's little else to talk about. Its no secret this board is getting really quiet for midseason which reflects the gloominess of the overall Bears fan base.
I have really good tickets to the TNF game vs Carolina ("Battle for the Basement") I'm not gonna use and will have to fire sale at way below face value to get rid of. No one cares out there. SF will be empty by the late season when the weather is bad.
Since there's nothing else to look forward to, I hope:
Brax comes back and solidifies the LT position
Jenkins and Davis finish the year healthy
Then, you draft QB & MHJr in round 1
You get a C in round 2 and I wouldn't mind signing a vet C/G too cuz you need a backup
You draft a developmental T too somewhere maybe rounds 3-5. Borom will be gonna and you need a swing OT in the pipeline as well.
And for crying out loud, don't cheap out in FA this year again. We will have tons of money to spend.
Prioritize the OFFENSE. 3 of the first 4 picks. Most of the FA money. Edge rusher is the only D position I would consider spending major capital on if there's someone there you like. You can add a S late in the draft or sign one for a modest amount.
And for crying out loud, any HC candidate who isn't an offensive coach with a successful history and experience in developing a young QB NEED NOT APPLY. We all know who they are--GET ONE OF THEM and give the new staff 3 years to do their stuff.

That's how I feel about it too, MP. It is just hard to be where we are at right now as fans. I do try to be a positive person. But the team sure isn't looking too good right now. The gut-wrenching thing for me was going from high expectations regarding the Getsy hire and Justin Fields draft, to the reality of what we see on gamedays now. And going through yet another coaching flush cycle is beyond sad. I recognize the need to flush the toilet though. This stuff stinks.

That's all I got.
I like that though. I like it a lot. I would be mighty happy if that is the way we go from here. Obviously there are countless moving parts to all of this. But as a high-level wish list that is my wish too.

This is 2020 all over again. Only difference is Fields is in year 3 rather than year 4 like Mitch was.
Even if somehow the team plays better going forward, I don't see how you can justify keeping this coaching staff. It may not be "fair" to Flus/Getsy but life isn't fair; life is impartial and those are two different things.
You absolutely CANNOT repeat the mistake George/Teddy did after the 2020 season. Which was to "give them one more year to show improvement" while drafting a new QB. Cuz then, you'll probably be changing out the coaching staff after the 2024 season with the result that you have once again squandered a year of your rookie QB's contract and would be forcing him to learn a 2nd offensive scheme in year 2.
PLEASE PLEASE DON'T DO THAT!
Bite the bullet in January, bring in a staff that can develop a young QB, and leave them alone for 3 years so the new QB has stability and consistent coaching. New QBs mean new coaching regimes. Tie them together and keep the scheme consistent.
I'm gonna lose my freakin' mind if they screw this up again.

If they screw this up again, I may retire from the Bears. and football. Between the McCaskey clown show and the refereeing, it's getting too hard to watch. Hey McCaskeys, are you paying attention here? ? ? ? ?
