But if there's any chance to turn this around, I want them to take it. If he fails again, he fails. At least then you KNOW YOU TRIED.
Lamar Jackson is the template. It took quite a while to improve in the pocket and he still isn't elite at it.
But he's elite overall. That is Fields last shot remaining.
Oh and btw, these coaches aren't exactly Bill Walsh and Bill Bellicheck. They don't have any real accomplishments to stand on or political capital to spend. I don't give a rat's ass about their egos or "feelings".
Really? Jackson is elite? I know I've heard that from many people before and honestly I just don't see it. IMO Jackson is amongst the most overrated QBs in the league behind Cousins and Daniel Jones.
The QBs we have on the roster are the QBs we have. Deal with it and make work, somehow. If you don't like it, quit.
+1 I am reminded that these are 3 rookies. A rookie head coach, and both coordinators are rookies (at these coaching positions). All three new to their jobs. And it sure looks like all 3 are in over their heads - including the DC who just quit. It sure looks like they are failing to get the most out of the players they have. I think Getsy totally dropped the ball coaching Fields. He overloaded him, trying to force him into more change than he can mentally process. Maybe you try these things but not more quickly that the player can handle. It's the square peg into round hole thing all over again. It just reminded me of Nagy. I won't rehash that old stuff but we all know how bad that was for Fields. Let Fields become more of a passing QB over time. But don't force this in one season. And hey, if Fields isn't your kind of QB then trade him to a team that would want him for who he is right now, and willing to gradually develop his passing game skills.
Overall, the Bears coaching staff on both offense and defense isn't good at "coaching" these guys.
Who served us as a fact that Justin gets up at 5am to do a Bible devotional before hitting the gym?
Is that a daily thing?
He was interviewed and said it then. He also said "the Bible App" when asked for something he couldn't live without.
He's well-known to be a deeply religious guy (like Cousins is) and I noticed he said "F it" yesterday at the presser which shocked me cuz I know he isn't someone who does that normally.
That speaks to me that these frustrations have been brewing awhile. I'm sure he's as frustrated with himself as he is with coaching decisions.
I don't blame him one bit for wanting to take charge and pivot to a different direction. Though they're tied together right now, Flus/Getsy can and probably will get more coaching opportunities years down the road, even if they're fired here this year. Justin Fields won't ever have the same opportunity again. This is his one chance to become a franchise starter and face-of-franchise player with the team that drafted him.
I'm glad he did it and I really hope Flus/Getsy get on board and don't interfere. It gives me a glimmer of hope that maybe he won't become yet another Bears 1st round QB bust like Grossman and Trubisky. He has to back it up now over the next 15 games. If he continues to suck, I'll be the first one to say so.
And I repeat, I don't care one bit that some are spinning this as "throwing coaches under the bus" or "not being a leader". Those two clowns have accomplished nothing any Bears fan should have respect for and they sure as hell haven't been "leading" very well, have they?

Again, I dont see that presser as throwing coaches under the bus, I see it throwing himself under the bus. Which is proving to be correct last 24h. Bad move imo. Everybody knew what he spoke of. EVERYBODY. He has so much work to do, to better himself, he has no time to think about others. He especially needs to work on his mental gears, obviously!

Ok, fair enough. Wanna call him "sub-elite" then? He's a top-10 QB who's won an MVP and been paid a huge 2nd contract.
Daniel Jones I agree isn't that special. I think NYG overpaid there for sure though I do admit Jones had a helluva rebound year last season which came at the perfect time for him to maximize his market value.
Kirk Cousins...the QB everybody loves to make fun of but only a handful can match. If Cousins had been the Bears QB back in 2018 we would have won the SB. No, he isn't Mahomes, but he's a way better passer than he's given credit for. Look at the seasons he's put up -- his worst year would be an all-time record season for a Bears QB.
Why...do the coaches camouflage for him? Have they not been open in the things he needs to improve on or doesn't do well? And not for nothing...this is nothing new from Fields. He's always been very open and honest on his play and why he does things...why wouldn't we expect honesty from him on this. And its not like he didn't hold himself responsible either. He shared the blame.
Not sure I get the bolded part of your response.
Overall, I'm not absolving Fields of blame with his play. He needs to be better. But this coaching has been absolutely TERRIBLE. The game planning and play calling is baffling, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what Fields strengths are currently and to lean in to those things.
My broken record comment: This team — and Fields style of play — is built for running the ball. Getsy figured that out last year and the Bears lead NFL in rushing, as Fields ran for 1,100 yards. You suck in the defense to stop the run, then hit Moore in the open zone over the middle. Simple. That’s something Fields can actually do very well, but that’s the offense nobody except me wants. It is the Eagles offense. They ran 259 yards last week. If Poles, et al. knew what the hell they’re doing, they could bring in the players 2024 draft to run this offense as well or better than Eagles, because Fields is a better runner than Hurts.
I don't give a shit what kind of offense we run, I just want it to work. Beyond that, I don't understand why we aren't running more quick slant game with Moore.

You don't think Jackson is an elite football player? Seriously? And you want to talk about garbage to throw too...the guy has basically only had a tight end to throw to the majority of his career.

All the passes to Moore over the middle are going easier if they’re loading up to stop the run. With Fields we are trying to jam square peg into round hole.

I think some here have been drinking too much whiskey after trashing their Koolaid on Sunday.😁
