I really admire people who stick with a team through the tough times. Around where I live, there are a number of "fans" who follow whatever team is winning. Broncos, Pats, Green Bay... when the Steelers were winning they were Steeler fans. In baseball they do the same thing. St Louis Cardinals fans, but now that the Cubs have won a WS they sport the Cubs merchandise.
LOL, I still just have 1 jersey... a George Halas player jersey (for real, I'm not joking). I'm just a crazy old coot Bears fan. The Bears ain't gettin rid of me that easy either. Of course that brings our sanity into question, but I'm okay with that :-)

Never cared much for the Irish, but the Bears stuck. Probably helped that I had Walter Payton and Buddy Ryan early on in my fandom.
Spent a lot of the 90's on the west coast where there was less Bear football, but always caught them getting killed by the Niners.
(Which is another reason Sunday was still awesome)
Back in Chicago just in time for Lovie Smith.
I would not even know how to root for another team at this point.
+1
It sounds like my house growing up. Bears and ND football. My mom and dad didn't go to college but they were ND fans. We had an ancient black and white tube TV that dad bought used and he "fixed" it so that we could watch games when they were televised. When they were not on TV we listened on the radio.
When that old TV would break, dad had some old tubes he'd bring out, and he'd open up the back of the TV and plug in a new tube and we'd be "good" after that.
I know this sounds crazy, but I do believe the team could be pretty good next year. It is a very young team, and it may be a fun team to watch. I'm actually getting kind of excited about it. Not this year. But next year I am looking forward to.
