This team is on pace to have a worse record then the first 2 years under Trestman, let that sink in.
If there is a reason to have Fox walk, there it is.
Well if we both agree on that exactly what are we debating then? LOLOL
I'm torn right now Soul. Part of me definitely wants to see him go; part of me doesn't want to see a guy like Fangio go; and I don't think the new HC is going to want to keep a guy from the previous regime, and I don't want a HC that is forced to do it, see Trestman.
There are a lot of strong reasons to want him gone, hell I never wanted him; but at some point I don't think following the Browns approach is correct either.
I didn't see much of the game but here's a couple of quick observations from the first quarter even before the game got out of hand. I'd label them a ominous predictors of the outcome which is why I tuned out.
Pick #1; AJ is open but Cutler throws weakly and behind him allowing Grimes to jump the route.
Pick #2; Loggains outsmarts only himself and hands the Bucs a TD. That cross field toss to Miller was identical to one the Bears used late in the Minny game when they were running the clock down. It's a risky pass but against a defense that pursues like Minny it works. So does Loggains think the Bucs DC didn't watch the game vids of that game? He must have because sure as shit he called it deep in his own end and Conte was sitting on it. Pick six.
Cutler will get the blame for it but it was an idiotic play call at that point in time deep in their own end of the field. Cutler ran the play he was given. It wasn't a bad pass like the first pick it was a bad play call! That's not what I call giving your QB the best shot at winning. The media can say what they will but put those six points squarely on Loggains not Cutler.
Miss TD pass; Now back to Cutler and his second actual screw up. He had AJ for six. The DB had his back to the play so all he had to do was put it up where only AJ could reach it and we score. He hits the DB in the back with the throw.
Second down screwup; The shovel pass to Lasike was a good call but Cutler makes a bad toss too low for Lasike to catch and still keep his balance, he stumbles and falls on the back of Long's leg and it's bye bye Kyle. A better toss would probably have resulted in a score or Lasike fall just short of the goal line and not on Long.
Third down screwup; Fumble. So that entire red zone sequence was a series of Cutler failures. Added to the two previous turnovers and another failed red zone scoring drive that was enough for me. I could see the end result long before it came.
EDIT; Let me just add to this that I do believe Cutler's physical and mental states are affected by his diabetic condition. I don't think there's anyone here who hasn't experienced what low blood sugar is like and it' affects on your physical and mental state. If you haven't you're lucky because I have and everything seems like it's moving in slow motion including my brain. Jay didn't just become diabetic either. I'm looking for answers not blame and this is one legit possibility.

I think Vic Fangio may (may) be the #1 asset this sorry franchise has right now (and I'm including players and coaches). But that may not mean he'd be a great HC either. I'd be sick if all of this ended up with Fangio on another team while the Bears hire more coaches - and there is no proof the Bears won't just hire another deadbeat HC. The pain never ends here for Bears fans.

OK fair enough so how about some what ifs?
What if Fangio is offered the HC spot for Fox's last two years, Donatell stays on as his DC, and he brings an OC like say Norv Turner in to run the offense. Turner is a sharp offensive guy who likes to run a balanced offense and far more knowledgeable and experienced than Loggains.
We'd lose a few assistants but no one who couldn't be replaced and since Turner is a former HC himself Fangio can pretty much leave the offense up to him and keep himself focused on the defense. It's a little like Lovie but with an OC who actually knows his stuff and who also fits the team we have.
Turner has worked with and developed QBs before so if we dump Cutler and go young and inexperienced at QB at least he should have an idea of how to scheme an offense the kid can run. The rest of the offense will stay intact so he's not starting completely from square one. He'd already have the makings of a viable unit.
It causes a minimal amount of interruption and cost both in terms of coaching salaries and player personnel changes and it's a plan with an initial limit of two years. If Fangio succeeds we can always offer a two year extension before the 2018 or 2019 season. At least he has a plan and the knowledge of how to implement it. To be honest Fox should simply step down and ask Fangio to take over but I doubt he'd do that. Too much ego.

Well above I provided a possible solution that may help us find out whether or not he's a more capable HC than Fox. Right now I'd say we have very little to lose offering him the job for the balance of Fox's deal (two years) with the potential for an extension for him and his staff if it works out. It may be the best HC deal and best situation to inherit he'll ever see.

I'd be fine with that. But we need to get him some serious help on the offense side of the ball.

I'm good with this plan. The moment Fox said "I didn't see this coming" after yesterday's game, he should have been fired on the spot.
Fox or is about to lead the 3rd straight 6 or less win season and is probably going to finish 3-13 at this point (SF is the only winnable game left at this point). His record here will be something like 9-23. That's even worse than Trestman who at least had the excuse that he came from the CFL.

I suggested the possibility of a guy like Norv Turner if we dump Cutler. He runs a balanced offense that's a fit for our personnel and he's handled and developed younger QBs. If Cutler stays maybe the decision is different.
