we can't have Cutler forever and always block the rookies because of him. It has to happen sometime, maybe not this/next year.
I just want to say that we don't draft QBs and if you don't draft them you won't have the luck to pick the next Wilson/Brady whoever.
Unless Cutler starts winning playoff games or a championship he won't block a rookie the way a Brady or a Rodgers will or like Favre did with Rodgers before he started. Mentally the front office may already be set to move on from him but they lack an option as a go to to do it with. When that's no longer the case the new guy will get his shot. Hell, Fox was ready to replace him with Hoyer so it won't take all that much if that's the prevailing attitude.
Well until this season is over and decisions are made concerning any number of things that come even before who to draft these theories and "what ifs" are the equivalent of masturbation vs actual sex with a partner of the opposite sex.....or in other words 100% fantasy.

I wonder if there is a plan in place or an arrangement for Garoppolo. Sounds silly buy there was alot of pics with Pace chatting up Garo as well as their alma mater ties. There are a few ties now with NE so it might not be a far fetched idea. Pace always seems to be having a plan formulating inside this noogin.
you think what ifs are compareable to Masturbation vs Sex?
LOL, well it's the best comparison I could think of on short notice.
But yes, this far in advance of the next draft I do. With 8 games left to play we aren't even sure of what our highest needs will be other than somewhere along the line we have to add a young QB to the roster. What we don't know is who will be the best available choice because we don't know where we'll draft, who'll draft before us and what there needs may be, and everything else that still needs to be decided and handled before the draft.
My mindset comes from a lifetime of managing things and putting things in their proper order so you all will have to forgive me for that. It's not a habit I care to break either.
we can luck out in the draft, but to have this luck we should starting to actually pick QBs in the draft.
There are people here who believe you don't need to draft a QB, just find an UDFA like Warner or Romo.
And that ends up being yet another shorter term solution that only kicks the can a little farther down the road until in desperation we're forced to draft one which is where most QB mistakes happen. We did that when we traded a 1st for Rick Mirer, then wasted another 1st on Cade McClown, and another eventually on Rex. It sure would be nice to avoid that this time.
As it stands we'd be far better off with Cutler going forward until we do have that young guy ready for the saddle than we would be with another vet FA. Warner was as lucky a FA hit as Tom Brady was as a 6th round pick. We're seldom that lucky.

It's not totally far fetched but it's still not very likely the Pats would trade a guy they believe can replace Brady. He'll be 40 next year and he can't play forever. Sooner or later he has to step aside and knowing Belicheat he'll want any transition to go without a hitch so the "next man up" needs to be as ready for that as Rodgers was to take over for Favre.
You can never say never but I'm not gonna hold my breath waiting for it or think that if it does happen Belicheat just traded his next Tom Brady to us out of the goodness of his heart which I don't think exists anyway. His heart I mean. LOL
