Cutler isn't known for his games similar to the Vikings. He isn't a QB like that. Those are far and inbetween of what he truly does. Cutler is a pick machine. There is zero reasons in my opinion to keep a player like that on this team. Time to move on and give the young QB as much experience as possible.
I rather use that extra cap space to sign some big name FAs here and help make this team competitive.
You don't give away a vet QB whose proven he can win when he has support. This last Viking game was far from the only game he's played that well in. I'm not sure why some want to ignore the fact that Cutler 34-22 in starts before Emery was hired and sent this team in farther into the tank or that only a handful of QBs have more comeback 4th quarter wins than he does.
Guys like monsters say he's a pick machine despite the facts I've posted on a number of occasions that prove he's about average in that category and above average in his TD ratio. Grossman's pick ratio was worse and his TD ratio far worse and he's the only other QB whose gotten is to the playoffs in the last 15 years. At least he had a defense to bail him out. So perceptions are not facts.
Given our past history drafting QBs when you show me that we have a better passer in house and ready to start then I'm more than ready to give someone else a shot at QB but until then I have no patience for going back into QB hell again with a gaggle of Grossmans, Ortons, and their predecessors. Cutler is still the best option 'til we have a better one.
Cutler is already signed until 2020 on a very team friendly contract right now. It makes zero sense to get rid of him unless another team offers something good for him in a trade. Grab a rookie QB in the upcoming draft and let him sit behind Cutler. Chances are he's going to be able to start a game or two and back him up in a couple games to get some experience. I would then draft another QB the next year if a decent one is available.
Starting a rookie QB on a crappy team right away usually does not work out well.

Exactly right. It would be a different story if they had to re-sign Cutler but they don't have to. He has a team friendly contract so there is not reason to just drop him.
After our Bye Week, we know we aren't the best Team and we aren't the worst.
We can easily cut Cutler for a 2 Million hit or keep him.
What Option do you prefer to date?
With the moves that the team has made to date (none towards getting a future QB ready), I don't think it would be smart to get rid of Cutler. He is still our best option to win and we certainly don't know if we will get a rookie or how good he will be.
If we keep Fox, then the situation might be worse for us. He is old school. There is no need to let a QB learn. You get a QB and you throw him in there like everyone else. Unless the QB is special, that won't work. He seems to want to get rid of Jay and he won't give a new kid any time , so that combination could be a recipe for QB disaster. But we've had that recipe served to us in the past.
If think Fox wants to roll with Hoyer and a rookie. Sadly I could see Hoyer-rookie-Shaw as the next three. Actually it will be Hoyer-Shaw with the rookie on the PS. With the way this team turned out if Fox wants to keep his job he has to be 500 or over next season.
Actually it will be Hoyer-Shaw with the rookie on the PS.
It better not be.
If the QB we drafted makes it to the PS...that QB would have to be some 6th round bum. If Pace releases Cutler and only invests a late round pick in another QB, I will go down to Halas Hall and break his nose myself.
I think the Bears are going to finish 6-10 or 7-9, so thats anywhere from 8th to 16th depending on the other teams (link to last years order). So unless Pace is reaching for a QB he's going to have to either (1) not take a QB on day 1 or (2) trade up. So now they are looking at a day 2 QB, again picking between 8th and 16th in each round.
Question we are betting on is will Pace pull the trigger on day 2. If he does, they might go into camp with Hoyer/Rookie/Shaw. If he doesn't, IMO they go into camp Hoyer/Shaw/Rookie(PS).
Other option is over paying in the offseason (trade of FA) for a QB.
