You, malaga, and houston are all hitting the nail on the head. 

NE won with Garoppolo and they won with Brissett.  Dallas is winning with Prescott and Philly with Wentz and meanwhile GB is now struggling with Rodgers at the helm.  The idea that any team needs a HOF passer to win big is bunk.  If anything gimme a HOF MLB/ILB and a couple of HOF DL or OLBs who can rush along with some decent core players who dominate and offense that can score 24 points a game and I'll win a SB with dink and dunk Brian Hoyer.

It's when ya' don't have that dominant defense that you need a better QB but it still doesn't have to be Manning, Brady, or Rodgers.  Those guys are exceptional but they also played on some exceptional teams or had some exceptional talent around them.  You need a capable NFL level starter but at least a dozen or more teams without a HOF passer have them and the Bears are one of them.  If Cutler was available as a UFA he would not be available long, I guarantee it.  Some teams can win with him and they know it.  Talk is cheap when it comes to put downs and there have been more QBs than just Cutler who've gone on to greater success after being cast off by their teams.

The Bears had one half of a winning system under Lovie but could never complete the other half with a good OC and a supporting cast for Cutler.  Despite that he won 61% of his starts and came within a half of one game from a SB.  Other than Grossman what other QB have the Bears had since McMahon whose gotten the team that far and if not for Hester and a defense led by Urlacher I doubt Grossman would have succeeded either.

When you're out to build a winning team you don't ask your players to not develop or play like crap just so you can draft who knows who in the next draft and then turn around and insist they play like champs because you drafted this hot shot QB or a knuckle dragging DL or OLB.  That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.  Who does that? What great coach ever played to lose.  Does anyone think Lombardi said let's lose so we can draft a top QB to replace Bart Starr.  Nope, he found ways to win with a small somewhat weak armed Q who was a 17th round draft pick.  Did GSH lose so he could draft Butkus and Sayers in '65?  We can trade up without losing can't we?

There is no such thing as a need to lose to win any more than there is a need to suffer to sing the blues.  I don't think I've had to suffer much in my life and I'm a pretty damn good blues singer or so I've been told by some who think my Mama must somehow have been black.  Both are a myth the story tellers love to tell but then that's all they are like much of the media.  Story tellers who can't do it so they write about it or sit in front of a camera and pontificate and damn few are doing anything more than the rest.  It's all about getting you to read or tune in and very little about honesty and truth.

There are no Andrew Lucks in this draft and as nice as it might be to draft another Julius Peppers it's not worth finishing 2-14 to do it.

As was pointed out on Monday night we don't have single Pro Bowler on that defense and it may stay that way for awhile.  So we have to win by being smarter and deeper than other teams and with all of the injuries to date a lot of younger players are getting some reps that may pay off down the road.

Provided Fangio sticks around he may develop a couple of his own Pro Bowlers but overall much like NE if the system is sound it's more about having the talent needed to fit that system and enough depth to carry throughout a season than it is having 5 Pro Bowlers.

With FA and a salary cap it would be very hard to ever build and keep a defense like the 85 Bears now.

How many AFC Champion titles does BB have without Brady as a HC? How about Super Bowl? Just cause you have a good system doesn't mean your Super Bowl Bound every year. The year Brady wasn't there they went 11-5 with a 16-0 team...

They missed the playoffs. BB success depends on Brady. He is the best QB to play the game after all. BB wouldn't be getting rid of his best defensive players if he didn't have a HoF QB there.

Yep, Bears fans think short term rather than long term.

You rather have Bosa over Floyd?

Year after year we're force to take the player that didn't get pick rather than having real options. 

I rather get that one true playmaker to build this team around. That is football after all.
