Ina all fairness, I think the NFL should adopt the NBA Lottery system for the top 5 or 10 draft picks..
Not a bad idea. That would really dis-incentivize tanking like the Colts obviously did to get to Luck.
The NHL does a lottery system as well..It is weighted for the teams with more losses but still it is not a guarantee for the top pick to go to the worst team.
I hear ya, but having a potential top 8 egde player will help out the defense. We have to adress Cutler sooner or later, and if we are in a postion to do so this year, we pull the trigger. Either Garret or QB. I am not saying we need to suck for picks the next many years, but one season would do wonders. Imagine having Bosa over Floyd. Imagine Cooper over White. Suck for one year get a real game changer, and then you build on through the draft like Packers/NE and so on.
Sure but if Garrett continues to top the charts and stays healthy he's probably gonna be on of the first guys picked so unless we give up a huge amount of booty to trade up (we won't) or we lose the next 8 games (we won't) he probably a pipe dream and I'm not pulling for a QB with a high pick right now either.
One may look good enough to go at the top of the draft but I doubt two will unless someone gets desperate again and we don't have to be that desperate. I'd look for the value pick at QB. The guy who isn't ready to play day one who can sit and learn the entire offense before he has to run it much like Rodgers did and Garoppolo is now.
Incidentally I will be shocked if Belicheat ever trades him. The only way that happens is if he's not the next Tom Brady.
Cooper over White I can see and I honestly though we'd get Cooper because White is the kind of guy the Raiders would usually draft. They're getting smarter I guess.
But what's the big deal with Bosa vs Floyd? Bosa has 4 sacks to date and Floyd has 3.5. Bosa plays like JJ Watt as a true DE and he weighs 50lbs more than Floyd. I'm not saying we couldn't use him but if we drafted him he'd be playing with Hicks and Goldman at DE whereas Floyd is strictly and OLB.
I don't know that you can really compare the two. Floyd is more like a Kahlil Mack or a much taller more gangly Von Miller. The kid has a real get off but he needs size and strength and he needs moves. If he can develop both he could easily be a double digit sack guy each year but he's gotta grown into that role because it really wasn't how they played him most of the time in college.
My greatest concerns about him all along were his size and his toughness. SEC "tweener" type like him tend to bust in the NFL.
I am not comparing Bosa to Floyd. I am just saying I would rather have Bosa than Floyd, because Bosa is younger and he plays at a higher level, so I would rather have a stud DE than project who is developing okayish at OLB.
I dont want us to trade up, if anything we need to trade down if we got get top 3 pick. All Im saying is if we suck enough to get top 2 picks, I am okay with it because it will allow us either to get QB or an elite egde guy. Thats all
