Exactly what I said too Hawk. The Pats were that one exception to the rule otherwise the more dominant defense won the game and that pretty much follows back for 50 years or so.The "Steel Curtain", The Purple People Eaters, The Doomsday Defense, The Bears 46 Defense, The Orange Crush. Even in 2006 when the Bears last made the SB our defense was good enough to win but our offense was not or maybe we could have still pulled it off it we'd have played Chico's way and not Lovie's or Sexy Rexy hadn't thrown a pick 6.
Tom Brady 4 rings
Roger Staubach 3 rings
Terry Bradshaw 4 rings
Brett Star 2 rings 5 NFL Championships
Sid Luckman 4 NFL Championships
Ben Roethlisberger 2 rings
If our Bears team had a QB in 86 we would be back to back Super Bowl winners. We had a even better defense than 85...
This is like giving the pitchers all the credit for winning a World Series even when they didn't throw shutouts every game. It's a ridiculous way to compare anything in either baseball or football. Do only goalies get their name on the Stanley Cup or are the rest of the players included? Somebody had to score some goals right?
GB had tremendous defenses during the 60s. Bradshaw had the Steel Curtain and Staubach the Doomsday Defenses. Pitt had great defenses backing Big Ben and '40s Bears weren't known as the Monsters of the Midway just because of Luckman. Did you think that referred to just their offense?
Even SF with Montana and NE with Brady had strong defenses to back them. You don't win a SB or even get to one with the 32nd ranked defense in the NFL. Look at the years they won those rings and tell me where their defenses ranked.
You think Elway and the Broncos got to 5 SBs with just an offense? How about the Broncos Orange Crush? It's the defenses that get the nicknames brother and not too often the offenses.
And yeah with McMahon the 86 Bears may have done better in the playoffs had Ditka not outsmarted himself playing Flutie over Fuller. But even Mac was no HOF QB and the 80s Bears will always be known for that defense and Payton not Mac.
You're clutching at straws here trying to steal the hand by showing 3 cards out 7 and I ain't folding. Sorry. You can't cherry pick QBs as ring winners without the rest of the team and most of the rings that were won also had solid and many times dominant defenses. So when all the cards are played it doesn't favor you much at all.
