Bears’ Dysfunction Comes To Light With John Fox On Hot Seat

There not not a lot of difference makers on there yet but the majority of them have contributed to the team which is good.  What I like is that there is plenty of potential.  Look at how many teams end up releasing a lot of those later draft picks after a year or two.

I'd be fine with letting Pace have one more opportunity to get a good coach before we fire Pace though.  But he needs to get it right this time.

He did.  I have seen zero credible evidence to the contrary.  Have you, MOTM?  I sure haven't.

How many saw a huge difference in the confidence and the play of the offense tonight once Cutler was back and the cuffs came off the game plan and play calling?  Raise your hands if you did.  Keep 'em down if you think Cutler had another "below average game" tonight.  To me he looked a lot like he did last year with a running game and protection.

This was an offense playing without it's two Pro Bowl OGs and it's top Slot Receiver against the best defense we've faced all year.  So has Cutler been the problem all along enough so that Fox hesitated to give him a vote of confidence and assure him of his starting spot once healthy?  Was Brian Hoyer a better QB for this team?  Was there ever a QB controversy before Fox decided to create one.  This dysfunction is all on Fox.

Is Dowell Loggains incapable of creating more effective game plans and providing more creative play calling or has he been simply following his bosses order relative to how to scheme and play call John Fox style so he could keep his job.  With a few exceptions where I thought we became too conservative again too early the play calling was pretty adventurous, we didn't have any turnovers, and for once we moved the ball well all night and controlled the clock.

Whether Fox keeps his job now or after the season isn't up to me but I sure as hell am glad someone at the top started thinking along some of the same lines I have been since this season began.  The injury stuff has been little more than an excuse.  We were just as injured tonight as we have been for weeks and yet tonight we stepped up and played a 60 minute game against our toughest division rival.  Why now and not 'til now?

Maybe it's because someone finally decided it was time to see who to hold responsible for this mess and the team sees some light at the end of the tunnel because of that.  As angry as I have been at the McCaskeys for this at least for the moment I'll give them credit for no longer sitting on their asses in their booth while their team is burning down. This team badly needs a President of Football Operations whose name isn't Ted Phillips.  It's time to admit he can't and the McCaskeys can't run their franchise and for them to hire someone with experience who can.  Do it soon and let him sort out what to do next.
