both Bobbie M and Leno got beat by the same guy. I can't remember the texans name but he wasn't Clowney or Watt. He beat both our tackles handley.
and yes, langford and white situations need to be handled by coaches. i would just have white run a fly pattern every down until he made a play or quit. Langford is ankle tackled all the time. Please try someone else for more than one play.
Mercilus. A guy we could have drafted but took McClellin instead.
The offensive line needs to get better for us to have a good season. At times they did well. But Massie got schooled today in pass protection. Granted, the OL was facing a great defense. But the OL seemed to me to be the weak link that limited what we could do on offense.
You're asking an OL to do WAY to much against that OL when they haven't played a single game together.
That front 7 might well average 4 to 5 sacks per game if Clowney has figured it out.
Ric an OT getting beat one on one has nothing to do with playing together as a unit. That did have an impact on the run blocking and maybe picking up some stunts but when both your OTs are getting beat mano a mano that's on them and them alone. They simply got outplayed at times. Too many times actually.

Bears gave up 5 sacks, mark it down, that Houston def will average at least 4, if Watt/Clowney/Whitney stay healthy. Doesn't matter the OL, those 3 guys are beasts and will beat their guys 1x1 more often then not. Whitney had 12 sacks in 13 games last year, and 3 in 1 post season game. Whit is not just some guy beating your guys mono a mono he is an absolute beast that is going to do that to just about every OT that thas the misfortune of facing him.

I'll give you all of that Ric but it still won't make Massie a good pass blocker or even adequate in my book. Leno actually did handle Mercilus and Clowney fairly well in the first half but they wore him down later in the game with their rotation. Massie never handled them at all. That was my main critique of the blocking by our OTs.

We'll see, thats by far the best def the Bears will face this year. He's never been a great pass blocker, but I'm not sure that he's bad at it either; and yesterday I don't think is a fair indication. I'll make that decision on him in the next 3 weeks. Definitely not a good start though.
If the Bears didn't want a big DE pass rusher, ala Jones, then yes w/out question Whitney was the best option. Btw, Shea did nothing yesterday, NE will have to get used to that.
