Well, that's interesting how Shaw went from a young Qb with potential that we were hoping to see play in the regular season in place of Cutler if he got injured to being relegated to a no talent camp arm. I guess getting a guy in with the kind of talent that Sanchez has made a huge change in the opinion of Shaw (despite the fact he has done nothing on the field to indicate he is less than he used to be), and made him expendable. Now, the fact that we got Glennon and Trubinsky..... yes, that definitely makes for a different situation. I can't see Shaw displacing either one of them. My heartburn comes from a guy on the roster (Sanchez) that is a known crappy QB. I get that he is not here to be a QB (then make it so), but right now he is.
We have been talking about getting a new QB to develop and either have sitting in the wings or to trade. Well, he may already be here. I just don;t get the change in status from a potential starter (and I get that in Chicago the bar for potential starter is low) to a camp arm. Nothing has changed with his ability -- just with the roster situation. So maybe he has to go but I don't get how the reason became that he is just a camp arm with no talent.
I also understand that the roster situation can force a move on a young QB that has potential (and I know that we don't know either way on Shaw for sure), but again... keeping a spot for a QB that we don;t want to see the field for a guy that might be a good backup or trade bait makes no sense to me. Glennon is not going to be a backup next year -- he makes too much money. He will either be a starter or be gone. So who is the backup? Sanchez? I don't even like him for that.
