Well, that settles whether or not they are going to keep Sanchez. They cut Shaw for Cruz

The Bears officially added Victor Cruz to the roster, so they had to make room for him.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Bears completed the transaction by waiving quarterback Connor Shaw.
Shaw didn’t play last year because of a broken leg, and they’ve since added free agents Mike Glennon and Mark Sanchez and No. 2 overall pick Mitchell Trubisky to the mix, so he was surplus to requirements anyway.
Shaw has actually played well in some preseasons, and could be an upgrade over what some teams are carrying at the moment. He’s also spent time with the Browns, and the Saints and Seahawks tried to claim him off waivers when Cleveland let him go.

If he clears wavers, they could try to put him on the PS. But it will be interesting to see if they try to put him on the PS and if any other team is interested in Shaw.
Well there goes the theory that the Bears liked Shaw enough to give him a shot.
3rd/4th string qb's don't normally make it, ever get a legit shot in the NFL, Shaw's just another one. Coming off a broken leg I wonder if another team would even look his way.

There is no PS at the moment chuck. This year teams can carry up to 90 players in the offseason and through camp and the preseason up 'til the final cut down date when they go to 53 for the regular season. After the final cut down they can add players to the PS who clear waivers but for now there's only the 90 man active roster.
Either they intend to bring him back after they make other cuts or not or he's picked up by someone else and my debate with butkus about him vs Sanchez is now mute. I don't see the wisdom of having Sanchez but then it is possible his injury has had an impact on his readiness to participate in OTAs or they simply don't need or want 4 QBs for now.
He looked far better to me than other camp arms we've had but that leg injury was pretty gruesome so it may that or because of it they feel he may go unsigned and they can always bring him back later. Time will tell but once again it tends to confirm they plan to keep Butt Fumble around throughout the season to mentor their prize rookie.
Why pay a QB coach at all if you still have to lay out $2 mil for a washed up 3rd string mentor/baby sitter to help with the job? If the Bears don't lead the league in anything else they'll win the head scratching moves award hands down.

That was my hope, but it may be that his injury is keeping him from being able to play well.

Well, I think that theory was trashed when they drafted Mitch and signed Mike.
Just another camp arm who couldn't make it another summer here. We've had a small army of them over the years. Maybe he can pull a Fales and get another team to give him a camp invite. I think Fales got picked up by Miami. These undrafted QBs are a dime a dozen every summer. They can look good in pre-season sometimes though. Fales looked pretty sharp against the Browns two years ago. But these guys are (unfortunately) not NFL material.

Nothing to see here...
Yep.. If you get cut by the Browns it says a lot about you.
