He's shared it w/everyone; you just refuse to listen, they've spoken about how much Sanchez was able to help Dak last year.
Then what's the purpose of a QB coach? If butt fumble is to be used as a coach it wastes the roster spot for an actual QB. I'm not saying Shaw is our savior but he could be trade bait.
I agree. He hurt his knee. Put him on IR, let him mentor Trub, and keep him away from the field.

"Despite announcing earlier in the day that the team was releasing the former Gamecock, the Bears were forced to make room for him on their 90-man roster. Shaw was saved from the waiver wire after Mark Sanchez suffered a knee injury during practice. While Sanchez’s injury isn’t expected to be serious, the team will keep Shaw around for a little while longer."
Shaw is a camp arm at best. I'm fine with the Bears having a young QB with potential behind Trubisky & Glennon (ie, somebody better than Shaw), but I also understand why the Bears would want a vet backup in the mix like a healthy Sanchez. Shaw just sounds like a poor man's Fales. Fales is hanging on by his fingernails in the NFL right now (currently in Miami). Maybe Shaw can get a few more summer camp jobs around the league before he is out of the NFL entirely. I think that is probably his ceiling in the NFL - a camp arm for a few years with various teams.

Regarding Shaw, I believe he missed his chance with Bears last year, not by his fault, but its gone. Roster was wide open at QB last year, this year not really.

+1 Shaw sounds like Fales - a good kid just trying to make the NFL dream come true. But how much do you invest in a 3rd QB needing attention this year - behind Glennon and Trubisky? There's no time to be spending on Shaw who doesn't seem to have the physical tools worth developing. He has a noodle arm (the only QB at the Combine who couldn't hit 50mph velocity on his throws - here's the quote "very marginal ball speed") and his draft scouting report says he's battled injury woes ("injury-prone with multiple foot and shoulder injuries}, even before his NFL injuries. It was a concern. It still is. He has relatively small hands, short arms & doesn't possess prototypical QB height.
I mean, how much time do we have to invest in a guy with such a low ceiling? None. He's a nice kid going nowhere in the NFL.

Well, that's interesting how Shaw went from a young Qb with potential that we were hoping to see play in the regular season in place of Cutler if he got injured to being relegated to a no talent camp arm. I guess getting a guy in with the kind of talent that Sanchez has made a huge change in the opinion of Shaw (despite the fact he has done nothing on the field to indicate he is less than he used to be), and made him expendable.

He's a backup at best young qb. That's all fine and good if you have a vet starter and no high end young talent, ie the last few years, but that's not the case this year. He literally doens't fit the roster now. You never want a super young squad top to bottom, you need a mix of vets and young talent. Sanchez fills a need in that qb's room, Shaw's role was filled by Trub.

If anyone viewed him as a possible replacement for Cutler they were lying to themselves. The only reason you would want to see him last year is b/c you didn't want to see Hoyer, which was reasonable.
No one that talked about Shaw on radio or in the paper said he had anything other then backup potential.

I think we were just wanting anyone new - and we were sick of Cutler. I understand. I felt the same way. It's like watching an old movie where you want the underdog kid to do well (eg. Rudy in the Notre Dame move). But that was before we got Glennon & Trubisky who both will require a LOT of time this year. We don't have the luxury of pouring development time into a guy who - if we are honest with ourselves - we know doesn't have NFL tools to develop.

oh good. I found that thread I'm going to argue with Ric on.
