Nobody has mentioned money. A lot depends on how much it takes to resign him.
The same things that make the fans get all PO'd at him will keep his price down. He will never be a sack artist like Mack, Chubb, etc. I really think that will affect his salary. He will get paid for sure but never a contract like Mack got.
Gotta try to keep your better players. Especially with our draft situation in the next two years being without first round picks. I hope we sign Floyd and let Vic Fangio keep his better toys.

Now that we've committed so much money to Mack IMHO it's unlikely we could afford to pick up Floyd's 5th year option based on a $15 mil price tag and his inconsistent production and injury history.
If he finishes strong in these last two games and the playoffs Pace might be wise to consider an extension in lieu of exercising that option. Maybe a 4 year extension that greatly boosts his $2.6 mil 2019 pay and runs through 2022 would be a wiser move if he can be signed for far less than $15 mil per year.
This his how Aaron Leming addressed the question;
This is a good question and one that is somewhat hard to answer right now. Even so, I’m leaning toward not picking up Leonard Floyd’s fifth-year option at the moment.
That’s not because I don’t think he’s a player worth keeping around, but the price of this past year’s option for an edge rusher was $14.2 million for the 2015 draft class. That number will jump up slightly when looking at what Floyd will cost, so it will likely be over $15 million.
A few things to keep in mind with this option. It only guarantees players that figure IF they get injured. So, it’s possible that they could opt to exercise that option and then pull it before next year’s free agency, if he’s healthy. The problem? 2018 would be the first year that he hasn’t finished the year on injured reserve, which makes picking up his option even more risky.
If I were general manager Ryan Pace, I’d swallow my pride and roll the dice on Floyd by declining the option. Let him play out the final year of his rookie deal and assess the situation from there. He’s a valuable member of the defense, but heading into the final four games of the season, he has just two sacks. That doesn’t mean he’s been bad by any means, but you also don’t pay a non-sack artists that type of money, even for one season. Especially when you’ll likely have to work out some sort of team-friendly deal with Aaron Lynch in the coming months and have Khalil Mack making an average of $23.5 million-per-year.

Let's be honest. Floyd isn't close to Mack's level of talent.
Heck I wouldn't put him in Garrett or Chubb's bracket either.

And I've believed that from the very start.
What he has done though is to have made himself into a valuable enough all around OLB to have earned an extension IF he can stay healthy and keep producing as he has lately.
Sunday may have been his best single game yet but let's also consider that GB was without two starting OL and had to prioritize Mack and Hicks in their pass blocking scheme.
Floyd played well and did some damage no doubt but will he continue to do it from here on out. Has he truly turned a coroner in his game or was Sunday an outlier?
How he plays these next two games and in the playoffs may be a huge tip off as to how Pace will approach keeping Floyd a Bear which I'm sure he would like to do.

Floyd isn't getting top 5 OLB money.
No one I know of implied that he will. At least not based upon his availability and production so far.

My bet is Pace will do something similar as he did with Fuller. Let him test the market and respond.

Leonard Floyd isn't the best or most valuable player on the Bears' defense, but he deserves a whole bunch of credit for his improved play this season. He's put together back-to-back best games of the season against the Rams and the Packers, and he was arguably the most disruptive player on the unit during Sunday's NFC North clincher. He's been a monster of the last two months: 23 tackles, seven for a loss, four sacks, nine QB hits, two passes defended, and one interception for a TD.
He also was the man behind Soldier's loudest moment of the game:
